And of course university models are always 100% right, my bad.

Re: Zombies

i trust the nerds to have arrived at a correct result. I mean they do statistical modeling at a profesional level and there nerds so they know about zombies. the results where something along the lines of even if there is a cure that being passive or defensive results in mankind dying out. And the more agressive you are the sooner you are the better.

Re: Zombies

You have to get your own house in order first, though, or fighting back elsewhere is going to be pointless.

Re: Zombies

well yeah, this is more about an overarching goal than any specific strategy or tactial gambit.

Re: Zombies

Eh, I know my plan currently consists of getting called back to the military and defending a rescue station... and if that doesn't work out stealing a LAV III

That reminds me of the story my dad told me recently about when his brother stole some smoke grenades from the marines and he took them to his high school and set one off in a toilet x.x

Better than the Airborne guy who stole some smoke grenades and tried to hijack a armoured car out west.

Re: Zombies

So, is anyone up for forming a ULMF group for Urban Dead over the summer? I'll lead it if people want to join but don't really want to worry about much. I say we find a good neighborhood and camp it out, maybe seek out a few big battles, etc etc

Re: Zombies

Comes up from time to time in here, browser based humans vs zombies (zombies can be swapped back, and of course humans can get infected) in a a city, divided up into neighborhoods, and the buildings such as police stations, apts, schools, etc.

Re: Zombies

Oh right, that. I played it for a short while a couple of years back though I couldn't really get into it.

Re: Zombies

Figured I'd point this out for those who might not know.

Promising zombie survival RPG though its only in alpha at the moment.

Video demoing it (bit out of date though)

Been messing around with the map editor on Class 3 Outbreak. To bad that the ideal location in town for a zombie apocalypse has so many cars it's a pain to fill in x.x

Re: Zombies

The good news: Dead Island looks awesome. Here's a gameplay trailer:

The bad news: The World War Z movie is looking like it's going to be awful.

The plot synopsis:
Based on the best-selling novel by Max Brooks, " 'World War Z' follows United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) as he tries to stop a global Zombie pandemic. With armies crumbling and governments rendered useless, Gerry must head out into a hellish and gruesome new world to find allies in his cause. In each country he visits, he learns new information about the origin and habits of the Zombies (or Zs as they're now called) and begins to build a plan to destroy them. Throughout his odyssey, Gerry longs to be reunited with his wife and children. But there's something he has to do first... Save the human race

That was acquired from here:

The general skullfuckery of the plot into the Hollywood blockbuster mold that that sounds like wouldn't piss me off as much if it didn't sound exactly like the very worst parts of the Walking Dead, IE: The romance subplot about the main characters useless cunt of a wife and irritating fuckwit spawn, who probably will get perhaps 5 minutes of screen time tops. Assuming they appear at all, of course. Also, the change from a collected war diary to a 'one man saves the world' story is not done smoothly or with any degree of grace. Granted, it's only a plot synopsis, but if this is really the script they're going with, I'm not even going to bother seeing it until I can pirate a copy with decent quality.

The ass-backwards plot, plus the fact that it's a PG-13 film, has not been kind to my enthusiasm for this film.

Re: Zombies

If that's true, I don't think the movie is going to be good at all, Hollywood fails at genre identification x.x

Re: Zombies

Now... see WWZ should not be PG-13. It just... dampens it in my opinion. Sure there's no need to go over the top... but being a realistic R (14A or 18A in Canada... I've seen some pretty gruesome 14A movies (read: Saving Private Ryan)) should be the goal.

Eh... I would have preferred they focused on one of the stories. Perhaps Yonkers.

Re: Zombies

How did Saving Private Ryan get THAT rating. I mean, it has to be one of the most realistic movies out there...

I dunno. Mostly for the violence really... Canada doesn't care as much about swearing.

The Matrix is rated R in the states as well isn't it? Only 14A in Canada. Which for those who don't know (basically anyone that hasn't had this conversation before that lives outside of Canada) is essentially a PG-13 rating... except a lot of PG-13 ratings get bumped down to PG.

Yonkers would be the logical choice (Or that college the students barricaded... can't remember the name of it), but I think it'd be more interesting if they shot it more like the book was written: in documentary style. I know that doesn't fit into the Hollywood mold, but I feel that's all about what the book was about, taking many different "human" stories and how each little piece fit within a global pandemic.
