Sorry on both counts, guys. Never good ways to start the day.

Me, I hate that the online game I play no longer has customer support. Oh, sure, you can go to the forums, but they tote that as "players helping players." A *player* can't help me when the game eats one of my items. Apparently, the only way to get actual customer support is to *pay* for it by being folks that purchase in-game currency. Given I just went out and bought supplement items that give me codes for in-game currency, I'd think that'd count, no? Apparently not.

So I tried posting in the bug section of the forum and I also had an old support email still saved in my inbox, so I tried replying to that with the new issue. Guess I'll have to see how it goes. Not the end of the world if I don't get it fixed, but it's making a lot of other players *really* unhappy that they can't get help when they need it.

Facebook game I spend way too much time on *laughs* (so that might narrow it down.) Which is the problem right there, but seriously, every avenue of customer service is "go to the forums." Unless it's billing and they can't help with glitches.

I don't hate children but I do hate babysitting for little siblings (4 and 7 respectively). I actually love both of the kids individually but you put them together and they become absolute terrors.

My co-workers are stupid. So, for starters, I'm terrified of spiders. So, I walk in to cover for somebody who couldn't make it in to work that day, and one of the other employees comes in with a flimsy assed plastic container with a black widow spider in it. And get this, he was bringing in so an off-duty employee could pick it up. So, naturally this made me nervous, the whole prospect of a poisonous spider being unsupervised in a flimsy container in the small back room near where I have my bag for it to potentially get free and take shelter in my bag and have it attack me when I pick it up.

Anyway, three and a half hours later, the other employee comes in. I was at the register the entire time, so when he leaves, what happens?; He leaves with that container, but NO SPIDER. Long story short, I fucking let my manager know I was leaving an left early. And I nearly get fired because of this bullshit.

Noisy people everywhere. There are construction workers outside my workplace right now, and I just know that when I get home the neighbor's brats are gonna be there, yelling and generally being shits.

Ha. I was thinking the same thing just the other day. Even if you left the aspect of roleplaying for the sake of itself aside, the Blank Page feels like it makes up about 80% of what you could call "community" on this forum - and yeah, I don't think exchanging porn can exactly be called community (after all, there is no "What did you masturbate to today" thread or something like that).

So that kinda adds to the temptation as well. However like you I too think I would just screw things up.

I don't think you would screw anything up. After all, it's just like acting out a story with a partner and sometimes with weird mechanics mixed in to decide if actions work or not.

Especially if you talk to whoever your playing with about what you like or don't like, I don't think you can really go wrong. Feel free to try it out!

I hate how our public library literally has the smallest section in the world for learning languages. They have one book on learning japanese and it was awful seriously bad.

Though your library probably won't have it, I can recommend

when it comes to memorizing Kanji - it worked very well for me and there are several books of it.

Also I really liked "Human Japanese", and app originally for the iPad, but it is available for other platforms as well. Seriously, you should check it out. As far as I know there is a demo version, too.

You probably know Anki already - I personally have used it only on and off, but it can be helpful as well.

If you can't spare the money, I can also recommend bookos.org, a very well-maintained e-book library with a wide variety of subjects.

Don't give up.

Being a weak willed sap who will agree to things I really don't want to and shouldn't have to do.

BBQ / Pool party starts at 5pm tomorrow.
I get off work at three.
Kind-of-a-friend gets off work at six and also wants to come, but due to bus stuff (and not being a driver themself), won't be able to get out of the city till much latter without a lift.
Phones me up and asks for a lift, knowing that this means I will have to leave the party after having just arrived, and make an hour+ trip to pick them up and bring them back. Most likely missing the BBQ, and the last of the sun for any pool fun.

Annoyed. Why can't I learn to just say no. -_-

Since I don't know you personally, nor do I know your friend, I can only speak from my experience. Saying no can be a challenge. I think everyone has that problem. You either learn to do it early, or the hard way, or never.

There are situations where you don't want to offend a person. However lots of people take advantage of that unknowingly, some even intentionally - even salesmen do it.

I just recently had to learn the hard way (again), that the people that take advantage of it unknowingly do so because they have gotten used to this kind of reaction from you. Well that, and the fact that a kind-of-a-friend is still not a friend, but a deviation from your past behavior they do not expect nonetheless.
This also holds true if you find yourself on the defensive for having made a mistake for instance. If you don't make your boundaries clear, you will remain on the defensive - for minor issues - in the future as well.

So how do you say no... Unfortunately English isn't my first language, so I am not overly confident in that I can help you with your particular problems. Also, you probably know already what your problem is and what you should do.

What I'd do is telling them how much I was looking forward to the things I couldn't do if I had to go fetch them first. If only they'd have called a few days in advance ... - this would be the truth after all, why should you be ashamed of it. They are only in the kind-of-a-friend-zone after all.
If they insist in an annoying way, tell them that they have asked and you have answered - in a polite, however unapologetic way. Maybe tell them that you were unaware of the fact that it was actually their decision to make, should they persist.

Don't be afraid to surprise people whose reactions concern you only mildly.

explain your situation to others
"I can't take you to the party because doing so would be over an hour drive for me and that would make me get there very late."

if that person isn't understanding, you don't have to explain yourself to them or take anything from them
"Well, why aren't you driving yet?" (don't say in a harsh tone)
