Re: SBS Notice Board

Oh, I'm sure that everyone figured out what I did, but just in case...

...Yes, Kyle did rig the fireworks so that the explosions would sound like "Never Gonna Give You Up".
Well, I figured you did it to *something* but as for which song you used, thanks for the info. No clue. Beauty of writing fiction. You can fake it *grins*

....Didn't she say they used to call her the Pumpkin Queen? As in.. Nightmare Before Christmas? It was totally Sho's idea to convert that into Pumpkin. AND she took it badly :p.

P
Long story short...Sho made a NBC reference and Al made the remark about being called "Pumpkin" (no King, no Queen, just 'Pumpkin') and since Sho had already been "flirting" with her, she said she'd be happy to, but people would probably start to talk, which of course, made even the albino blush. Read the original exchange, though. Much funnier.

Re: SBS Notice Board

Not back permanently, just posting up my character for peopl to look over. Also, Im unsure of having Mightyena or Luxray for my third Pokemon. People who've played the DS Pokemon games will know who Im talking about.

Name: Alexander Hughes
Alias/s: Alex, Hughes
Gender: Male
Age: 18 (24th November)
H.Colour: Red-black
E.Colour: Blue
Height: 5’11”
Abilities: Pokémon Trainer, Hand-to-Hand combat, Pokémon Trainer Equipment, Expert Herbalist

Background
Alex is a Pokémon trainer from the Hoenn region though he had moved to the Kanto region whilst still a child, though he had taken to travelling around the various regions since he started working for the Pokémon Enforcement Agency. His work often saw him taking on the various criminal activist groups including Team Rocket, Team Magma and Aqua and his most recent quarry, Team Galactic.

Though Alex had ulterior motives when he joined the PEA, he had heard that a Pokémon called Jirachi granted anyone’s wishes once every thousand years. Though only a rumour, Alex hoped that he’d get to Jirachi through the PEA and then him and his Gardevoir, Gardenia, could have their wish granted; that Gardenia could become human.

Alex and Gardevoir had been together since they were both young. His parents had gotten a Ralts for him to keep Alex company when they first moved to the Kanto region because of his fathers’ job relocation. Though it slowly became apparent that Alex was only interested in Ralts and no one else for a long time and it came as a great surprise to his parents when he made friends with a young man called Michael. Though now showing interest in other people Alex still mostly played with Ralts right up to when she evolved into Kirlia and eventually Gardevoir. It took some time but Alex and Gardevoir slowly realised they shared feelings for each other beyond simply friends or Trainer and Pokémon.

Naturally his parents found out and they were outraged, Alex ran away from home at the age of fourteen and didn’t bother keeping much contact with them, only keeping in contact with Michael. Shortly after that he heard rumours from several Trainers about a Pokémon called Jirachi and its wish granting abilities. About that time the PEA formed as well, a group that worked alongside the police to bring down criminals who mainly performed crimes using Pokémon.

Alex had been working with them for about two years when a group calling themselves ‘Team Galactic’ appeared, and by the hands of a single Trainer their plans of recreating the universe in their own design were thwarted. It was thought that they disbanded though a year later they came out of hiding claiming they had gotten close to capturing Jirachi and with it their dream of universe in their own design was closer. Not wanting that to happen and to hopefully make Gardenia a human Alex volunteered to take them down.

He had been tracking their main headquarters for about two months when he came to it, and indeed Team Galactic has gotten a hold of Jirachi who was stored in a large machine. Breaking in Alex made to rescue Jirachi and escape, though unfortunately he had set off the machine. The machine, unknown to Alex was powered by two mysterious jewels, created a rip in space and time. Alex, along with Jirachi and Gardevoir were sent through the rip into unknown origins.

Personality
Normally Alex is pretty easygoing, though he does take a while to open up to people and let them in. Being a Pokémon Trainer Alex does tend to rely on his Pokémon so much so that he often calls upon them even with the most trivial of problems or tasks. In battles Alex is easily fired up, often shouting out attacks and even posing dramatically, his emotions can change as quickly as the tide of the battle itself. Outside of battle Alex is slower to anger and be swayed by his emotions.

Abilities
Pokémon Trainer

Being a Pokémon Trainer means that Alex uses Pokémon in not only just battles but keep them as pets, friends, companions etc... As with all other Pokémon Trainers, Alex can carry at most six Pokémon though he chooses to take only three with him. Alex’s three Pokémon are; Gardevoir, Froslass and Mightyena.

Hand-to-Hand Combat
Because of his dealings with the various Pokémon criminal syndicates Alex has had to defend himself from attacks from members of the various groups and as such he’s gotten better from these times. Though he’s not an expert he can hold his own against individual opponents of around his strength and possibly slightly stronger.

Expert Herbalist
The last prototype his father gave him before Alex left was a portable potion making kit designed and created by both Silph Corporation and Devon Corporation. The case contains everything a budding potioneer would need save for extra ingredients. With practice Alex has become almost a complete expert at creating a multitude of potions and tinctures, though he still needs several hours to prepare and mix the ingredients so he’d not be able to produce them in the midst of battle. However Alex does keep a plethora of potions in his backpack in case they are ever needed. Because of the nature of the kit almost anything edible can be broken down and used as an ingredient.

Pokémon Trainer Equipment
As well as the Potion Kit Alex carries with him, he also carries other ‘essential’ pieces of equipment any trainer wouldn’t be seen dead without; (Alex will have these with him in the RP though if he can use some is an entirely different story.) As Pokémon Trainers travel the world their electronic equipment is naturally water proof as well as to a certain degree shock resistant and resistant to the cold and heat.

PokeDex – A digital Pokémon encyclopaedia, this stores information on any Pokémon a trainer has seen or caught and also allows the trainer to transfer Pokémon from the Professor’s lab that the trainer is registered under.
World Map – A digital map that displays the whole world as well as zoomed in segments of the world itself. When connected to the Pokétch it connects to satellites to update the world map to show where the trainer has been. It does this automatically but can also be done manually.
Collapsible Bicycle – A foldable mountain bike, this allows the trainer to traverse all but the most difficult terrains.
Pokétch – Short for ‘Pokémon Watch’, it houses a variety of functions.
Watch – The primary function of the Pokétch, it displays time in analogue and digital as well as the current date. A button can be pressed to turn on the backlight so that it can be read in the dark.
Map Connection – This is a wifi connection that is usually on constantly, though this drains the battery at a faster rate and so can be turned off to save on power.
Calculator – A simple calculator, nothing more nothing less.
Pedometer – A novelty function mainly, this allows the trainer to see how many steps he or she has taken and how many calories the trainer has burnt during the steps recorded. There is an option to log each day to see how many calories you’ve burnt each day to compare.
Item Finder – Uses sonar to detect items buried underground. It can’t determine between useful and rubbish items and it cannot detect items deeper than ten inches. Upgrades can be purchased to increase the strength though Alex’s hasn’t been upgraded.
Notepad – Used primarily to store phone numbers, names, addresses and memos.

Pokémon
Gardevoir
(Female, named Gardenia, Psychic type)
Gardevoir are tall, willowy feminine looking Pokémon, almost human in appearance except from the obvious telltale signs such as the half-heart shaped horn nestled just below its breasts and on its back parallel to the one of its chest and the fact that it can defy gravity. Along with the horns, Gardevoir typically stand at about 5’-6’ tall, their bodies pure white, green hair, a green top that ends an inch or two above its navel and completely covers their arms with a U-neck cut that slightly exposes their cleavage, they wear a white skirt that completely covers their legs with a green skirt of a thinner material underneath the white skirt. The white skirt has a split from about six inches above her knees and the green one has a split about four inches below her knees.

Alex’s Gardevoir however lacks the horns on its chest and back which makes it almost unique as it has been reported that only 1 in roughly 100,000 Gardevoir lack horns. Without its horns, Gardenia cannot use ‘Precognition’, the ability to look into the future, and she cannot forcibly open up mini black holes because those horns are the focus of her more powerful abilities. Though this does not mean that she is weak, she still has access to all her other attacks and her telepathy. She has learnt to speak vocally, though her speech is slow and deliberate. As with all other Gardevoir, Gardenia is considered an empath, she is somewhat affected by the emotions people are feeling though she is more intimately in tune with Alex so more often than not she’ll feel the same moods and emotions that he is more than what people around her is feeling. Also, Gardenia can also project her antigravity field around another subject, normally Alex, and like this she can maintain limited flight for the two of them, normally for about an hour before she needs to rest.

Gardenia was Alex’s first Pokémon, she was given to him in her Ralts form by his parents when they moved to Kanto, and over the years the two bonded and grew closer and closer until Gardenia had reached her Gardevoir form and they realized they had feelings for each other beyond a trainer –Pokémon relationship.

Powers
Gardenia is a Psychic-type Pokémon, and as such her main focus of attack is psychic attacks at medium to long range. Gardenia has a range of attacks, nearly all of them using psychic energy, at her disposal and as such each has their own names so that she knows what ability to use.

Confusion/Psychic – Psychic attacks that attack the opponents mind directly. Though it appears as if the attack is invisible, ripples of multicoloured light can be seen around the opponent if in a well –lit area. These attacks require the most effort physically and mentally on the user so they are seldom used.
Psybeam – A concentrated beam of psychic energy shot in a straight line, it deals more damage the further it travels, even punching through concrete and metal if fired from a far enough distance.
Psywave – The opposite of Psybeam, Psywave is a cone of psychic energy that fans out from the user and deals more damage the closer the opponent/s are. Once it reaches a range of twenty feet it dissipates.

As well as offensive abilities, Gardenia’s psychic energy can be used for a variety of other attacks that vary from confusing her opponent to transporting long distances in seconds.

Teleport – Using psychic energy the user can transport him or herself to a different location instantly. However it is limited, the user can only travel to places that they know of intimately or is in their direct line of sight. Teleport can be used repeatedly to travel further distances though it will fatigue the user at a faster rate and one other person/Pokémon can be taken along. The maximum distance that Gardenia can travel is about ten to twenty foot in one teleport.
Hypnosis – The user attacks the opponents mind with psychic energy to try and put the opponent to sleep. Strong-willed opponents can fight the effects of Hypnosis.
Dream Eater – Using psychic energy, the user can feed off its opponent’s energy to restore its own spent energy.
Imprison – Using psychic energy the user can capture the opponent in a barrier of psychic energy, stopping the opponent from escaping and/or attacking. Though if enough force is applied the prison can be destroyed, this sends a backlash of psychic energy at the user and considerably hurts them.
Protect – Much like Imprison though it is used on the user itself to protect the user from all attacks. This can be kept up for a maximum of five minutes when the user is at full power before the protection barrier is dropped and the user is heavily fatigued. The barrier can be used to protect one other person/Pokémon though the duration is reduced to three minutes.
Substitute – The user creates a plush replica of itself and goes into a mini dimension only accessible when this ability is used. To create the doll the user needs to expend a large portion of energy, and while the doll is out it takes all damage until it breaks. The user appears momentarily whenever it attacks though it goes back to the dimension once it has finished it’s attack.
Double Team – Using psychic energy the user creates illusory copies of itself to confuse its opponent.
Calm Mind – The user puts itself into a meditative-like state to allow their body to rest and recover while maintaining a certain degree of awareness about them. Because of the nature of this move it is most often used outside of battle.

Froslass (Female, named Miko, Ghost/Ice type)
Typically Froslass appear to be Japanese snow spirits, their bodies look like kimono’s, pure white in colour with a red sash around their waist. Their arms elongate towards the base and a blue fin-like protrusion sticks out at the side to resemble the sleeve of a kimono, with their hands sticking out. They appear to have no feet and float, though this is probably due to them being a dual Ghost/Ice type. The upper part of their faces appear to be covered with a white mask, their faces seem to be a dark purple colour with two ‘horns’ that look like ice on the top of their heads. There are three holes on the face of the mask, one each for its eyes and one on its forehead. The mask itself extends into two points at the back, much like horns themselves and the mask does not wrap around the back of its head. The bottom of the mask ends just before covering its mouth and again two protrusions off the mask point down as if they were fangs. Because of their pure white forms they are practically invisible in snowstorms.

As Alex made his way north in the Sinnoh region by instruction of the PEA for Professor Rowan he unknowingly walked into an area where several Froslass had made their home. Seeing him trespassing and believing him here to capture them because he was a trainer the Froslass whipped up a powerful snowstorm in the hopes of feeding off his life force. However unlike the rest of them this Froslass only wanted to play with the Pokémon Trainer, and instead of joining in the ‘feast’, once the others had had their fill it took Alex to its cave and allowed him to recuperate there. After a few days of rest Alex thanked the Pokémon for looking after him and went to continue his journey northward. Reluctant at first to let him go, in the end Froslass allowed Alex to leave, though only after a few minutes she chased and followed after him to make sure the other Froslass didn’t target Alex again. As Alex was exiting the tundra he saw that she looked sad and so he asked her if she wanted to come with him on his journeys. She happily nodded, and since then it has been with Alex and the rest of his Pokémon. Alex’s Froslass is playful by nature, often making snow to play in and generally have fun. Alex usually calls upon Miko’s powers when his missions are outside and require a certain level of stealth. Because of her Ghost type Miko can, at will, switch between being corporeal and incorporeal, though the longer she stays incorporeal the faster she becomes fatigued.

Powers
Miko is a dual Ghost/Ice type and thus has the ability to manipulate the weather around her as well as using her negative energy to attack with. As with Gardenia, Alex uses names for attacks so Miko knows what to do it battle.

Powdered Snow/Blizzard – These two attacks create various intensities of snowstorms, ranging from a light powder to a full scale blizzard. Because the attacks require constant concentration to keep in effect Miko cannot do anything else whilst the attacks are working. Once her concentration is broken however the blizzards slowly calm to a stop in about ten minutes after. This ability is often used when Alex needs some cover as directly it doesn’t hurt it’s opponent. (In RP measurements, at full power the snowstorm can cover the entire island that the school is situated on, though Miko can only keep it going for about 10 minutes at full power. The calmer the snowstorm the longer she can keep it going.)
Ice Beam* – Miko freezes the air and water molecules around her and, coupled with her negative energy, she shoots it off straight in front of her and freezes any nonliving matter and vegetation it hits instantly. When it hits another creature it quickly drops its temperature and slowly encases her opponent in ice. If not treated quickly the target can develop hypothermia, pneumonia or another cold related illness.
Ice Shard – Miko creates a spike made from ice and hurls it at her opponent.
Hail – Similar to Powdered Snow and Blizzard, though instead it creates hail.
Shadow Ball *– Miko hurls a ball of solidified negative energy at her opponent, it can pass through nonliving matter though its effectiveness weakens with each pass through.
Light Screen – Miko creates a barrier in front of herself to stop direct attacks from hitting her until the barrier is broken.
Confusion/Psychic* – See Gardenia’s attack list.
Hypnosis – See Gardenia’s attack list.
Dream Eater – See Gardenia’s attack list.
Double Team – See Gardenia’s attack list.
Sing – A sleep attack much like Hypnosis, though instead of attacking the mind Miko incorporates her negative energy into a soothing lullaby to make all listeners drowsy and fall to sleep. Also much like with Hypnosis, strong-willed opponents can fight the effects of Sing, though it is much harder to when the mind isn’t focused on it like when in battle.

*Because she wasn’t trained for direct combat, Miko becomes fatigued faster when using attacks that require her to manipulate a lot of her negative energy.

Mightyena (Male, named Kain, Dark type)
Mightyena are canine-type Pokémon, built more in the appearance of a wolf. Their bodies are covered with a thick layer of dark grey fur with another layer of black fur that stretch from just above their eyes to the tip of their tails, this black fur forms two lines running parallel down their back. Their sense of smell is one of the best, only second to an Arcanine’s though because of their aggressive nature they are very rarely used by the police and mostly used by criminals which have unfortunately given Mightyena a bad reputation. As well as a strong sense of smell their teeth and claws, when kept in good health, are vicious weapons not to be taken lightly. Because of their colouration they are more suited to nocturnal hunting in the wild, their sense of sight being just as strong as their sense of smell they can keep their prey in sight even at long distances. When they are used by Trainers and the police force, it may take a while, but they become fiercely loyal to their companions. (In RP measurements, Kain’s sense of smell and sight are about double that of a trained dog.)

Kain was a gift given to him when he first joined the PEA, though he started out as a Poochyena first and was one of a couple of Pokémon he could’ve chosen from. Over the next couple of years Alex and Kain formed a close bond as they pursued various criminal activists using Kain’s ability to sense them out over long distances.

Powers
Kain’s attacks are primarily used for tracking, though he does have at his disposal several attacks useful in combat.

Bite – This attack is just a simple bite that varies in strength depending on how much force Kain puts behind it.
Crunch – This move is similar to Bite though with the added effect of Kain secreting a toxic saliva into the wound so that the wound takes longer to heal. Because of the toxins it is easier for Kain to track down someone who has been bitten using this attack beforehand.
Tackle – A simple attack that involves Kain charging at his opponent.
Dig – Used mainly to gain access to places, Kain uses this move to burrow underground. It can also be used in battle to provide cover from attacks.
Toxic – Kain spews out a concoction of vomit, stomach acid and toxic saliva. This is used as a means of ‘marking’ his target and to cause prolonged pain as the acid slowly burns the victim and the toxins from the saliva stop the wounds from healing over.
Hidden Power – A desperation attack, Kain unleashes a burst of negative energy from within himself that hurts anyone in a radius of about ten foot. This also causes considerable damage to Kain.
Sand Attack – Kain kicks up a dust cloud or other similar debris into the face of his opponent in the attempt to temporarily blind them.
Odour Sleuth – Using an item with a person’s scent, or if he has managed to get some of his toxin on the target, Kain can track them down even if the scent is very faint.
Slash – Kain rakes his opponent with his claws.

Re: SBS Notice Board

After some debate...I've decided that Kyle has simply vanished from the dance. I'm pulling him out of the SBS.

Quite frankly, what had gotten me to rejoin this when it restarted on the Haven was that Nunu had said that the focus was not going to be on using powers, but normal school-type interactions. Unfortunately, the actions that have occurred, particularly Keylo's nigh-constant attempts to turn everything into an emergency through the often OP or use of Mia including incidents that I feel are effectively godmodding, have pushed this to being rather far from what the GM had intended.

Should this situation ever be rectified in a fashion that I consider things to be back on track, I'll review this and determine whether or not I'll rejoin at that time.

Re: SBS Notice Board

Good to see you on Oni!

And Wolf...

The way I see it. (I might be wrong though) Is that we unconciously made a "story arc" centered around dealing with Mia/Ima...

If you think of it like that, all these fights would be "Plot Development" A semi-sentient growth of pure chance happenings!

If your still gonna pull Kyle out then it might slow progress somehow...

Ok, I'm not trying to coerce or pressure you into staying... But... Uh... You could... You know... Wait it out?

Right?

Re: SBS Notice Board

First of all...Keylo had stated back on the Haven that there wouldn't be nigh-constant usage of Mia. This has not been the case.

Second, whether or not there is a "story arc" involved in this or not, Kyle really was only involved briefly.

Finally, I have yet to see any signs of Keylo's actions being anything more than those of an attention whore who doesn't give a damn about any rules that the GM may have placed on them. I, personally, don't care to be involved in an RP with such a player.

I have made my decision. Kyle is not in the SBS now. Whether or not he returns at a later time will be determined at such a point that I feel things are more in-line with what the GM, Nunu, had stated as being the original intent, should that ever happen. In fact, the only reason I stayed in this long was that I had already, in-game, made a reference to Kyle setting up the fireworks display.

Re: SBS Notice Board

Two cents...

Debated actually voicing this or PMing, but figured it could apply to any one of us.

Firstly, Wolf, come back when you're ready. Like the others, always welcome.

Secondly, even though this is our game, we can't be the ones to carry it fully. I haven't posted in three days because I don't want the thread to be nothing but me and Siphon. I like playing with him, but as both player and GM myself, I know how boring it can be for other players if you just focus on one or two of them. If you guys like reading the interactions, great, but I can't imagine they're all that thrilling all the time. I'm trying not to be a thread hog. Problem is, if we *are* the only ones interacting, it gets difficult. It's like a play with lots of props but only two actors. I understand people are busy, have lives, school, work, bad net connections, et al, but there needs to be more potential for interaction. I'd just as soon read about Grace's conversations with Mia or Sly's convos with Elisia as write my own. Why? Because they're interactions. They're interesting. They're opening up the characters for us to learn about them. When you've only got five people talking to each other, conversations get old, fast. Granted, I'm about to be guilt of what I'm preaching as well, but I'm still saying it. We've got a school full of NPCs and yet, they never get used. It's like the traditional hentai game/anime where the entire student body is, at most, ten characters. We need things to interact with that aren't potential combat situations. Be it us running them or someone else, I think that's what we need. Either that or an outside antagonist. Someone investigating the school for freaks, ghost hunters, something, anything. Day to day school interactions are one thing, but we need something of a plot or storyline to work off of.

*tosses pennies in the jar*

There better be chocolate in this *laughs and takes cookie*

Yeah. Squid's got a spotty net connection, too, so him getting on makes it a bit rough, unfortunately. I know he tries to get on when he can, though.

Re: SBS Notice Board

Gah... T_T

I'm sorry Mr Bei. I've visited places with access to the internet multiple times through the week, but been at these places for other non net related things. I kept finding just enough time to check the thread, but not enough to actually post.

Someone did spot me up on McD's this week though actually, otherwise I would have already posted. Was some amazingly perceptive old woman who felt the need to start yelling at me. In general the place I squat is quite out of sight, yet she saw me and started demanding I get down. "You'll hurt your self! Why would you go up there! What's wrong with you!" etc...

I told her I was doing college coursework, but that didn't seem to satisfy her. Nothing to do with her at all, but she was determined to get me down. I had to eventually because she was making a racket and I didn't want some staff hearing it and coming out. Why she was so offended by it I'll never know.

Some people just see something slightly out of the ordinary and they just can't seem to take it. Tis sad... -_-
