Obviously it probably wasn't so drastic as this, but as much as we like to think that everyone at the top only cares about money and is out to get the consumer, it's not always the case. Sometimes people have to make compromises they don't want to make. (Though that's not to say there aren't idiots in charge a lot of the time)

If the CEO Sega forfeits one month of his salary, they can pay the whole team an extra month to fix the game, and i seriously doubt that would affect his livelyhood in the least.

Like I said, I'm just being a bit of a devil's advocate here. Sega is a big enough company that they probably wouldn't have gone under, but on the other hand, I shouldn't make the assumption that they just did it because they're assholes. I don't really have enough information to come to either conclusion.

As for project X, my guess is that it probably wasn't Sega.

Well, this is the games company that had to leave the console industry...because they spent all of their remaining budget and nearly destroyed the company developing and advertising their console.

And whose plan since then seems to be to focus on churning out toxic slime and enormous flops as quickly as possible.

I wouldn't rule anything out on this. Sega are catastrophically bad at business.

One month of the CEO's salary is not enough to cover hundreds of salaries. It would be closer to a year's worth of his salary.

You say it as if hundreds of people actively worked on Sonic 06 or the whole company had no other source of income.

How so? Different people have worked for Sega over the years. Right now, Sega is doing very well financially. Sega is the same company as it was 15 years ago just about as much as Capcom is. That is to say, barely at all.

With that amount of money he could give have given the developers more time, I'll give you that. However if you look up Osamu and Sega, you'll also see that he apparently brought the company from a state of absolute failure to overwhelming financial success. So I while I agree that he could fund projects, we can't exactly say that he makes bad business decisions...However, you'll usually find that the CEO of such a company has little to no hand in what projects are actually developed anyway, so it's probably not really accurate to push all the blame onto them. (they hire people for that who are supposed to be more qualified then they would be)

And let me clarify that I did say "business" decisions, not "creative". But then, if you look at Last Guardian, good creative decisions can apparently last a very, very long time :/

Don't a lot of jp companies not care when a hentai parody is made of their chars? Ive seen so many tifa games I lost count. As long as actual assets from the games aren't used. I'm not sure about sega though (Ive seen valkyria chronicles stuff though) Also I believe that SOR fan game was taken down because it used actual sprites ripped from the games. As far as I know everything in this game was fan made (not sure of the "voices" though).

On the other hand that MLP fighting game got shut down so I'm not sure.

As far as I know the voices are edited clips from either the game or show except for the fan characters. Like Zeta voicing her own char and what not.

I'm not blaming anyone in particular, i'm just saying that a big company will release a game before it's complete not because of a lack of funds, but simply for an idiotic bureaucratic need to meet specific charts.

A lack of funds can stop indie, but a big company needs to follow a different line of thought to deal with shareholders and the more bureaucratic part of economy.

They have to meet certain deadlines to be able to prove that their predictions were right, and most of the times the left hand doesn't understand what the right is doing and shit happens.

To make a long story short, it's almost never a matter of actual money, it's almost always a chart on the wall. People who look too much at charts on walls tend to forget how people function.

I don't have any problems access the newer site. Most recent activity is from the forum on that site as well.

The website hiccuped. Which was very weird indeed.

Anyway, it seems that a lot is being revealled on their forum "against Zeta's wishes". But it is still not that fair to spoil what extra goodies they're working on anywhere but there. I can only say: New stuff.

The problem comes when we did a backup of the forum, and we didnt updated the cookies of it for the new adress, and uploading them to the new host with the old cookies, thats why the forum was failing, but we cleared the cache in the host and is working now, but maybe some people who enter will have to do the same for his comp.
And yeah we have a lot of new things done and on going.
