Just saw How To Train Your Dragon.

I liked the 3D flying scenes better than in Avatar, the story was (slightly) more original than Avatar, and I didn't come away from it with a fucking hour long headache.

And slightly more on topic, I'm thinking about giving 'The Expendables' a look when it comes out. Maybe not in theaters, but at least looks like it'd be worth a rent.
Now, if it had CHUCK NORRIS in it... I'd see it in theaters in a CHUCK NORRIS-beat. That's quicker than a heartbeat, mind you. Because it's CHUCK NORRIS.

Actually I was thinking the same thing about the expendables after I saw it yesterday, from that trailer site you put up. Action movies like that rarely disappoint me since I don't watch them for the acting ability, but rather for the butt kicking scenes.

Agreed with ya. And with the collection of all those butt kicky people, it should have some good butt kicking scenes. I'll probly see it in theaters.

Just saw Clash of the Titans the other day. Not bad actually. I rather enjoyed it.

I think that's the first wholly positive thing I've heard said about Titans yet. Everything else has been "boo" or mixed feelings. Of course, the one was that they muddled with Perseus' backstory, which I can see as a legit complaint, but then, as the person said, that's Hollywood for you. I'm still planning on seeing it.

Did you do 2d or 3d, Sin?

I saw it in 2D, will be seeing it in 3D later on. As for Perseus' back story... they changed all kinds of myths up a little bit to make the original Clash of the Titans. Changing the one characters back story wasn't that big a deal. Besides, making him a fisherman kinda fit for the times.

Amusing comic, but tis strange, for as I said earlier, the original didn't really happen in Greek Mythology either. So I wonder why they got pissy with the remake.

Eh, whatever. I shouldn't really voice an opinion here, as apparently liking or not liking something that everyone else dislikes or likes makes one, an idiot.

Who cares what they think if you like something you like it, their opinion is perfectly fine, too. Just don't feed the trolls of the bunch and it'll be okay.

I don't know why anyone would have a problem with Clash of the Titans not following mythology to the hilt. The original practically made it up as they went along anyways. I mean seriously what do they want them to do just stop making movies since we've covered pretty much every single fucking story out there already. Maybe they would they prefer if all the remakes were just made the exact same way as before just with prettier effects.

That being said I wasn't actually planning to see it till after the theaters just like most movies. I'm sorry I hate theaters I just can't stand the sticky floor that's always present in them it freaks me out.

Funny, I've read a lot of Greek Mythology and I don't remember robot owls *whistles innocently* And yeah, the original kind of butchered things, too, so I guess I'll have to take anything they do with the new one with a grain of salt. I think part of what helps with that is the interview they did with "Perseus." Apparently one of his buddies was bitching about his hair, saying that they didn't have the proper sort of razors "back then" to give him the buzz-cut thing that he has. His response? "They didn't have f'ing flying horses either. It's a MOVIE."

Maybe I'll go see it Thursday, if I'm not still broke.

And Sin, if you do the 3d, lemme know how it compares. I've been hearing bad things about the 3d version (the movie's too 'fast' for the effect or somesuch, which makes it hard to watch.)

it annoys me as a general trend that hades is butchered in modern culture. pretty much every modern interpretation of greek mythology has him as the bad guy just because the zealous idiots of modern Christianity say lord of the dead is the most evil thing in existence.

still clash of the titans was quite a pretty movie and i enjoyed it.

I don't think I would define any of the Greek gods/goddeses as good, or evil for that matter.

haha yeah if I recall in real greek mythology, the gods were selfish sons of bitches who slept around as much as they could, especially zeus. zeus was a dirty old man. and they essentially stole power from the Titans, who... didn't... really do anything wrong, as far as I recall. they were just the current power, so they got their asses overthrown.

Hot Tub Time Machine. I don't even know where to begin. Sure, I laughed, but only after I turned off that part of my brain that wanted to know what the FUCK was going on. Seriously, there are a couple events in the characters' pasts that are never explained.

What is with the 'Great White Buffalo? Is this a joke that should be common knowledge? I really don't get it. Also, I forget the city, but something happened that they promised to never bring up, which in any other movie at least the audience would get a flashback so we would KNOW why they never talk about it, but NOOooo, we don't even get that much, they just mention the city, say that it should never be mentioned, and never mention it again! WTF.

I'd at least recommend you rent it, because you will probably get some laughs out of it, it's just not worth buying.
