I feel like I'm going to be sick. Assholes everywhere, man. What is the point of all this violence?

Re: In today's news...

Create fear through the threat of further violence in order to garner a political objective. These people actually think that they can only achieve their goals through the shedding the blood of innocent human beings. They do not believe these people are innocent merely because of where they live... or perhaps a more chilling version, they simply do not care.

There is a point to it, it's just a very bad point.

Re: In today's news...

Shit like this makes me want to gie up on humanity. Then I remember that in every scenario there are people that run toward the carnage in acts of selfless heroism.

And I think of this post someone made on Facebook:
Boston. Fucking horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

That was Patton Oswald. An expanded version of what seems to originally be a Mr Rogers quote. Or more specifically, a Mr Rogers' mom's quote.

Re: In today's news...

Apparently, he revealed information on how they got the wrong guy with the bombings. Or, at the very least, that there's another layer of things that the government isn't telling anyone.

The guy who linked me that also linked this along with it. Which I think implies a connection and a bit more than just the first link without any real proof of the link, but I'll post it here anyway for completeness sake. (Detailing a US military plan about how the US planned to fake a bombing and arrest an innocent over it, so they could blame Cuba and go to war)

This was also linked to me, the Boston police commissioner calling the bombers 'actors' at roughly 2:20

Edit: Got linked some vid, "We didn't do it!" shouted once at 0:26 and one more time at 0:36
Not sure how valid you think it is, but if they bombed a place, I'd assume they wouldn't be trying to shout they didn't do it. If they actually were Chechen terrorists, they would have claimed it in some way, that's what terrorists do.

---

In other news, while all this bombing stuff has been spamming the news, CISPA(The latest internet control bill) got passed in the house(Whatever that may mean for you Americans). Apparently that means it's not through yet, but it's closer.

---

And more other news, Monsanto is now above the federal courts. That's right, lawsuits to stop them are now thrown out before they even get to court. - The legal system is now no longer allowed to stop them
not even the US government can now stop the sale, planting, harvest or distribution of any GM seed, even if it is linked to illness or environmental problems.

The short version is that it has to go through the House and Senate before it's a law, and the President has to sign it. The president can veto t instead, but Congress (the House and Senate, collectively) can override the veto if they can get a two-thirds majority behind the bill.

Re: In today's news...

Yeah, I saw a hilarious parliamentary speech made after it was passed.

And not the usual sort of hilarious parliament, where it's a bunch of arguing and bickering and I sit back and go "Damn..."

"About Before It's News:

Anyone can contribute.
Anyone can become informed about their world."

Keeping in mind that anyone can post, and that no sources are provided in either story, and the number of posts sitting on the front page, I'm calling bullshit.

Re: In today's news...

I always find it funny when people make quotes about how america is one nation under god and how the ten commandments are such an intrinsic part of how it should work. Pretty sure the constitution explicitly states that aint true.

We're Americans. We change the facts to fit our conclusions, not our conclusions based on facts.

Re: In today's news...

How fitting that Schadenfreude is a German word, because I feel nothing but Schadenfreude every time I read news about Justin Bieber's botched European Tour. First we take away his monkey, now drugs and a stun gun were found in his tour bus - and similar to his monkey, he did not have the right papers for the stun gun.

I don't know how many of you all know who he is, but country music star George Jones died earlier this morning sometime, says he had a slight fever and irregular bloodpressure the other day when he was hospitalized. It's very sad that he's gone, he was a very great musician.

In the far future, nothing changes.
