Siphon would only smirk in reply to that, still focusing on his group, which was dying quickly, blood flying everywhere.



Several dozen wraith all grabbed weapons, and, using their stunners, opened fire on Oni as one, trying to hit him with the energy stunners.

Oni watches as the Wraith pick up arms and aims at him. Dematerialising his sword he merely smiles as he puts his hands in his pockets.

"C'mon then, take your best shot." Oni closes his eyes and as he hears the blasts from their guns he instantly dematerialises himself. The shots can be heard connecting with the Wraith, and even before their bodies can hit the floor Oni rematerialises both himself and his sword and attacks them all, a black blur amongst the Wraith. Oni moves back to the center, all this taking less than a few seconds. As the Wraith drop to the ground a wave of blood erupts from them all.

"These guys are boring," Oni mutters, letting out a sigh.

Siphon had nearly finished with his group, seemingly toying with them as they failed miserably at even coming close to hitting him.

"Poor performance indeed. I agree Oni."

He grinned at one wraith who had been lucky to avoid death so far. "Your merely postponing the inevitable."


Said Wraith's head then got torn off.

The winged gaze follows Oni as he streaks off towards the fighting, apprehensive as ever.

Bloodthirsty, too. Reckless. And, he underestimates me. Excellent."

"I.. don't like him, Sarge."

The mage purposefully ignores Burrito's rank, and turns back to Host, hands alight.

"So.. about this one. Do we kill him now, or wait for Grave to come back and kill him later?"

A raspy voice came from behind her, cutting in. "Neither."


It was Sparky, followed by John, and the former looked very unhappy.


"You placed a tracking device on the outer hull of one of those hive ships, or know who did and have been with holding that information. I'd like to know why."


John gave a look of, 'dunno how he got that info, but he did, better answer him.'

Sin heard the shouted warning, but had also been aware of the approaching Wraith. Sneaking up on her was indeed... difficult. At the last moment she spun, and swung her swords at the attacker's neck in a scissor pattern.

As the wraith's head came off in a fountain of blood, Sin turned back to the battle to find the mimic wolf.

Siphon, content that Sinful had her end under control, went into full obliteration mode. The handful of wraith grouped around him that were still living didn't stay that way for more than ten seconds as he ripped through them.

Moments later, he emerged from a mountain of bodies. "Where the hell are you all coming from!"

More poured out of every nook and cranny, seemingly an endless wave of them.

Pale goes wide-eyed, innocent, wings flared to either side, both to hide anything she might do from her superior officer, and to show her innocence.

"Tracking device.. on a hive ship? Me? No.. you've got the wrong girl. I just blow the damn things up.. No tracking devices here."

In her head, though, the mage is already forming an appropriate spell. Just in case.

Sparky snarled at her. "NOT YOU MAGE. HIM!"

He indicated Host, though how he had acquired that information god only knew.


"I have nothing to say to you, and if I were you I'd step aside. If he won't willingly divulge that information, I'll simply have to rip it from his mind."



Possibly to Pale's surprise, John put a hand on her shoulder. "Let him be, I'm not sure exactly why Sparky is so upset about it, but he doesn't seem to care that you could tear him apart easily, and that worries me. He's not afraid to die, even at the hand of an 'ally'."

He spoke to Sparky, who was visibly angry. "Now just what the hell is going on here Sparky, and don't pussy foot around with it."



Sparky never turned, but only spoke, barely containing his rage. "Whoever he had plant that device on the hive, it was discovered. Rather than turning it off they reprogrammed it to emit a sub-sonic pulse for detection and to block out scanners on their ship. They know exactly where the weakest part of the ULMF forums are now, where to hit and HOW to avoid the only weaponry capable of stopping them with a frequency jammer. I suspect this HEM'PAH knew that would happen! He also, to prevent them from feeding on the humans living a few days journey from here, dropped a viral killing bomb on thousands of humans, killing them to cut off the food supply. MASS GENOCIDE of people we COULD HAVE SAVED!"


John didn't have an answer to that one, praying Sparky's information wasn't accurate. He whispered in Pale's ear. "Oh .... yeah I can see why he'd be pissed."

You know, the more I hear of this guy, the more I like him..

Not exactly an appropriate outward response, though. Instead, Pale shrugs off John's hand, and marches straight past Sparky, straight up to Host, and...

Punches him in the jaw. No magic involved, just a straightforward right to the jaw, with a surprising amount of power behind it, for a girl.

"Fucker. See, this is why we ought to just kill you. Right here, right now. You know I could make it last for days? Strip your skin off, an inch at a time..? What do you have to say for yourself?"

Now... if you're smart.. you'll get Burrito-knucklehead to save you. About.. now.

Sparky's reaction was unexpected. He stood there for a moment, then let loose a laugh.

"That was entertaining Mage, well done. Very well done."


His tone took a more serious tone to it as he shook his head. "Though torturing him like that I'm sure would be fun for you, it wouldn't garner the information as easily. However .... I could always, after she's gutted you, restore your life, bind your wounds and let her go at it again and again until she gets bored of it."


Pale might get the impression that the Wraith was dead serious, and for good reason. He was.

The ambient air temperature seems to drop around Pale, grey eyes born of cliffs, and the cruel sea.

"Two things you seem to be forgetting, Sparky. Firstly, this is my prisoner.. and no one touches him but me. And possibly the Sarge if I feel kind. Secondly - I don't like you. Which means I'd just as happily put you in his position. It's not like I haven't done it before, to your kind. Back. Off."

Suddenly, the mage is standing -between- Sparky and Host, wings flared up around her, and projecting, at the least, what some would call "A very strong dislike."

The wolf was still in the middle of the fight and still harrying the Wraith, providing a nice distraction by tearing into legs and arms, especially when it looked like they were going to be firing their weapons. And she was right, the wolf...actually didn't really have a scent. There were scents clinging to it, particularly a clovey sort of smell that was currently being overpowered by the same bloodsmell the wraith had. That could just be because its fur was coated in the stuff. There was something unnatural about its fur, too. While it looked like a timber wolf, there was a large black patch on its back and if the light caught it just right some patches looked like they had...blue highlights?

Clear of combat for the moment, it actually looks like it's watching Oni with what could only be described as a puzzled look on its face, even going so far as to looking as though it had an arched eyebrow. Of course, Siphon's exhasperated "Where are you coming from?" spurred her into action and that's actually what she was considering finding out. Were they 'porting down from somewhere? Coming *up* from somewhere? Maybe if she were lucky enough to find it, she could plug the spigot.

For a moment Sparky actually seemed as if he was going to attack the mage, his anger flaring off him like an aura, his body tensing. Surely that meant he was going to rip in to her, or give her an excuse to attack ....


Yet it never came. With a frustrated, dangerous growl he looked her square in the eye before speaking. "Fine, you want your 'prisoner', so be it. When he back stabs you, and turns against you, bringing you BACK inside of a cold room like you were in on the first hive I sabotaged, DON'T bother asking for my help!"

With that he stalked off, leaving her there with Host, and a seemingly stunned John.


However, as soon as Pale relaxed, the vampire had moved quickly, teeth bared next to both her and Host.

"IF I find out he was right, your both dead. Got it? Good. If I were you Pale, I'd stay the hell away from Sparky, cuz the next time you challenge him like that, and destroy any chance of gathering information, I won't stop him if he tries feeding on you."

Then he too moved off, communicating to Siphon what he'd learned.




Copper would discover a large stone ring erected a quarter mile from the party, something that was spewing out a lot of Wraith. It also seemed to be generating a ton of energy, and seemed to be very solid.

Pale stands, very, very still for a long, long moment. The air around her quakes with repressed energy, boiling in sympathy with her anger. The wind howls, and the air seems heavy, pressing down on those around her. Far above them, clouds whip around her focus, building energy for something dramatic.

Suddenly, though, she exhales - and everything is silent once more. Eased into complacency. The mage trembles for an instant, then forces herself to relax.

Know, that when judgment comes, and fire rains from the sky, you will be the first to burn. Slowly.

She turns with a bright and happy smile to Host.

"I bet you just love me now, ne..?"

Anyone that actually sees the wolf go can see its fur changing color again, almost chameleon-like as the fur blends in with the surrounding terrain it goes bounding through, at least until it gets closer to the source, dropping low and slinking along to get a good look at what's happening.

"Oi, Siphon! Send the wizard, warrior, and valkyrie about a quarter mile east. We got a monster generator we need to put out of business over here." If she couldn't find a means to shut it off, she'd go with the next best thing: blow the thing to kingdom come.

Siphon's eyes narrowed slightly, having actually forgotten he had been able to communicate telepathically.

"East, Quarter mile! Grave ... Sinful, move! Copper found their source, time to go blow things up!"


Anything that got in his way that wasn't an ally quickly ended up with shattered spines, the former hybrid no longer playing games.

Grave let out a laugh. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Finally something big!" He made his way towards Sin, littering the ground with Wraith bodies as he moved. Then he made a path for both of them, producing even more corpses before he quickly set out. He didn't use any high-speed movement techs - Grave wasn't sure how quickly Sinful could move.

Following the group at his own pace Oni cuts a swathe through the Wraith, a river of blood rushing over his feet.

"There's something I've been wondering since I came to this planet. Why are these creatures attacking you all? And where did they come from, because they don't look like native's to this world."

"Ah, dammit. Now I have to move again."

Bartnum pulls himself to his feet and launches himself after the others with a blast of fire. He lands clumsily and breaks into a run, using continuous jets of flame to increase his speed and keep up with the rest of the group.
