Re: Webcomics of win

FFXIII, FFX and FFX-2 had the worst stories. Can't say anything about FFXIII's story, but from what I've heard on /v/ it's supposed to be similar to FFVII's. Tactics (PSX/PSP) has the best story out of all the FF's, and you're a soulless heathen if you disagree.

So, do you actually have reasons as to why X and X-2 are bad?

I know X sounds stupid when it's described as above, but frankly I found it to be a fairly decent story. And while I haven't played X-2, and it gets a lot of flak about being Pretty Sailor Final Fantasy, I've heard the story is actually quite decent despite it being Charlie's Angels.

The disc of XIII I played (I only got through disc 1) was far too long ago for me to make a reliable judgement.

Haven't played Tactics, so I can't make a judgement there. But my vote for best goes to Chrono Trigger, which is by (then)squaresoft, but not a final fantasy. With second place going to Final Fantasy VI.

Also, cats are :3 :

Partly because of the Sphere Grid, god I fucking hated that, though mostly because of the characters. Except for FFVIII I've never hated any characters more than I do with FFX. Though I liked the story and characters for FFXII so what do I really know.

See, even Tidus was smarter than he seemed, and Wakka had his own lovable charm in my eyes...

But I can't stand Vaan from XII. Penello to a lesser extent, neither of them have any damn reason to be involved in the game besides "Well, might as well tag along". But Balthier is awesome and Ashe is a scary bitch who I'm still not sure I should be going along with (lock her up, she's crazy).

And of course, need I say, the Sphere Grid has no relevance to the quality of the story.

A system does not a story make. Personally I've enjoyed most the FFs to some degree, though the only one I've got near completetion is 3 on the DS and story on Dissidia. Oh, and I'm at Game++ on Tactics Advance. In the same keystroke, I found the systems featuring Job-based combat (That including X-2) Easier to work with then ones that are based off of equipment use (II being the biggest culprit)

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF fuck FFII in its slimy ass. I could've enjoyed that game if it weren't for the way you gain stats. Jesus, that was more tedious than level grinding.

And yeah, I know the Sphere Grid has no relevance to the story but, like with II, if I'm not enjoying the way you progress your character's levels/stat increments then its not going to make the game enjoyable for me. Didn't stop me from completing it though, after all it is a Final Fantasy game.

Vaan did annoy me slightly too, though wasn't he put into the game at the last minute? Balthier, Basche and Ashe are the bad asses, and they were the ones I used in my team.

Which FFTA are you playing? I thought both were good, A2 moreso than A though no one is going to top Marche in douchebaggery. I think I'm about half way through 3, though its been a long time since I've actually played it so if I pick it back up I'll have to start again. I do know that I maxed out Red Mage with all the characters, it took ages to do. Along with Squire or whatever the beginning class is. Dissidia, I've unlocked and completed all the story mode though I believe I've only got Cloud and Gabranth to level 100. A shame they didn't get Gabranth's original VA to do him and instead got Basche's.

Original Tactics Advanced, A2 I have the final mission open but I'm working on some backlog of available missions so I'm content not finishing. And ya, A2 has more then it's fair share of improvements with TA, specially when it comes to laws.

The laws in TA didn't actually give me any troubles, I normally used them against the enemy quite effectively.

I always seemed to have trouble, specially as I tended to run for antilaws to get rid of the more pesky forbiddens (like 'counter' or elemental damage an enemy is weak to that mission). For some reason I never could get past it well, specially at endgame when you hit 3 laws at once. And the penalty of jail seemed too steep, specially as one wrong mistep with Marche would lead to a instant Game Over to your last save.

I played TA and again, not a huge problem with laws. I'd rarely have to cancel them out, and simply used them against the enemy. Sometimes popping law cards to mess up an enemy side was epic lulz.

Eh, I like FFX a lot, though I tend to pretend that Auron is the main character, not Tidus. God Tidus is a whiney little Meg Ryan haircut-having little bitch.

I kinda like the sphere grid, at least up to a point: once you start moving into other people's sections, it stops being about who's get what skills, and more about who you want to be on-screen. Though, Wakka is a must, given that he has THE DEADLIEST WEAPON IN THE GAME. A FREAKIN' BLITZBALL.

The story... eh. I don't judge games on their stories too harshly. I mean, if it sucks ass, then yeah, I'll rip on it, but usually, as long as it moves the game along, I can deal with it.

Gah. I really need to work on FFTA. But before I do that, I need to finish FFIII on the DS. But after that, I planned on finally finishing up either Tales of the Abyss or Legendia. And then there's FFI that I haven't beaten yet, though I might be able to do that really quick, since last I remember I was on the final boss..... I HAVE TOO MANY RPGS TO FINISH T.T

THE DEADLIEST WEAPON IN THE GAME. A FREAKIN' BLITZBALL.
I prefer to think of it as a buzz saw that has some round bits to hold onto.

And ultimately, all weapons are created equal, the difference is his ability to get 12 attacks out of it.

And Tidus never struck me as particularly whinny. He actually kept most of it to himself, and put on a brave face a lot...

Eh, Blitzball is nutting. If I remember right, one of the iterations of the Ultima Weapon was a sword that grew longer as you gained power. Took up half the screen if it got strong enough, and by half the screen I mean Cloud+Sephiewephie's swords put together is about half.

To me FFTA was good simply because Marshe is a complete cunt. FFI is probably one of my all time numbered Final Fantasy games, one of the reasons being; ENTIRE TEAM OF RED MAGES AT THE FUCKING START!

Off the top of my head the RPG's I have to finish are; FFII, FFIII, FFIV, Breath of Fire III, Breath of Fire IV, Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Enchanted Arms, all the Dragon Quest DS remakes, Dragon Quest VIII and a fuckton more on my DS that I cant remember at the moment.

I'm not sure with Ultima Weapon you're talking about but I know the one on FFVI increased in size and strength the more HP you had. There is another sword called the Chicken Knife or something like that that either increases in damage the less HP you have or the more times you flee from battle. The only bad thing about it is that it forces you to flee from battle occasionally. I had my Locke equiped with a Genji Glove so he could equip both the Ultima Weapon and Chicken Knife. He raped nearly everything. Gogo was a good character on there, especially with the commands 'Mimic', 'X-Magic', 'Blitz' and 'Tool'.

Pretty sure that gunk around his mouth means this is supposed to be after the procedure.

Still a long ass procedure, I'm just saying the humor of a time lapse is lost when it's defined. Considering his main complaint is that he only got it a minute ago, obviously it's expected for it to work at some point, even he expects it, so why is it funny to the audience? Is that observational humor of the lowest caliber, that I'm supposed to look at it and say "Haha, that's so true, numbing agents do numb you."

You ever notice sometimes you eat a huge meal, and you're fine during it and you think you can eat more, but at some exact specified time after you're done, you realize it was too much and now you're sick? Hilarious right? Cue laughter.
