This translation was made using the latest release from the game (January 23rd 2016). Please ensure you're using the same game version to avoid problem ;)


News

Alright, the work is shifted from partial to full translation !

As for the partial, there is no ETA for the full translation.

- One major point between the partial and full translation, is that this time I'm not working alone on it.
I'd like you to thanks imnotapervert for the help he is providing me to do this work - He not only is doing a good half of the translation, but he's the one who motivated me enough to get on transforming the partial into full translation. So don't forget to rep him also for the good work.

(This game is text heavy, so it may stake some time).

A first release is scheduled for when all the translation will be done (H include) for the main story to reach about half-way through the story line. The thread will, of course, have a post to announce the new.

The partial and the info are in the spoiler below for the time being, since there no full translation patch available.

* Some boss name weren't appearing in the patch txt file
** The hint part of the riddle wasn't appearing in the patch txt file

Both of these missing content are only translated and available using the data folder PT version !

There's Two way to get the partial available :
1) uploaded data folder. Easiest way to apply a partial. And it contain what I couldn't translate through the RPGMAKER TRANS tool => "data folder.txt"
2) the RPGMAKER TRANS actual patch. Recommended only if you want to rework the partial or continue with a fuller translation => "RPGM trans patch.txt"

To ensure that the files are available longer the link to both version are inside the txt file.

May I ask which version will you be using as the basis of the TL? I checked the one from the thread -which amazingly was still accessible after more than a year had passed-, and I'm pretty sure that contrary to what the gracious provider wrote, it is only v1.01. (the newest files were created on 14/12/2014)

Regardless, good luck with your endeavor.

EDIT: Bryanis has provided a link for the latest version in the game's thread. Which was mighty kind of him. And is much appreciated. *tips hat*

Thank for the cheering.
I'll ask for help want needed of course.

For now there is a couple of things I'm not sure of (a bit of giberish coming from the translating tool), but I but them aside to go check in game what they're related to and try again later (I've got to try to learn how to understand all that giberish or I will never make it). So I'll ask for help if I can'y manage after a couple of retry.

As for the game version, I'm using the latest updated version (from 26 january 2016).



PS : and when I see the time I took for the number of thing I translated and the time it usually take for the members doing lot of partial, I'm even more in awe of their works. They're way to fast. Gratz guys !

So, I've been doing a few test in game about thing I had problems translating but there some I'll like some advices.

1) In the armors, I regulary encounter a discrepency : the armor name stat Iron, but the description state steel as metal used (ok, steel is stronger alliage based on iron).

That kind of thing : name = アイアンブレスト => Iron breastplate
description = 鋼板から打ち出した鉄の胸当て。 => Mettalic breastplate made by hammering steel plate.

Seeing as there only iron armor and no steel armor, what would be best ? Changing the name from iron to steel, changing steel for iron in the description of leaving it as it is ?

2) I'm having a hard time translating the description of and accesory named golden emblem.
黄金の魔導師と呼ばれた英雄、ロードアウルムの紋章。
その遺志に認められた者に大いなる力を与える。

It's the clearing game reward item, giving boost to all stat, exp gain, and granting HP / MP regen

The best I could come to make some sense was :
Emblem of ロードアウルムの, the golden mage hero.
Gave the power of rejuvenation.

3) Another accesory : ミラーオブレギオー which seem to translate as mirror of blurring. However it seem to gave a wrong idea, since it's not a defensise item - it make all simple command "atack" hit all target. I get the blurring in sense that you move super fast to launch multiple attack at once, but I got a feeling of wrongness with that name.

4) can't translate this one into something that seem good english :
質量傾斜式魔力観測機
The best I managed is "Massive magical power use probe".
It's a device to detect magical fluctuation

5) another name : アウルムのコイン

Seem to translate as Howl coin.
A nondescript coin
earned from every game clearing starting the 2nd and can only be used as a loot to sold for a small amount... Still trying to find if there more to it

6) An enemie name (boss) : ドレッド I'm clueless for this one, as all boss have real name so far (magic user specialised in fire magic).


Plus,there always a thing about character name. Not really certain yet. But I'll rather change the name for the 1st and 2nd characters.
The 3 playable girls name are clearly stated in the game (script & some cg), but they're not always right-sounding name for westerner, not certain if I should change then.

1st is the MC, official name is "Mail" (メイル). I think it would be better to name her "Mel" (can't picture myself playing as a mail....)
2nd is the blond magician, official name is "Arma" (アルマ). That the whole R vs L in name debat here, but "Alma" is an existing and easier to use name.
3rd one, the silver haired magician
The one you're trying to save
, official name is "Rusica" (リューシカ), but some translating tool propose "Lucca" (not really a girl name, but there was one in chrono trigger).

Outside of the problems listed, the files listed on 1st post are done (except for 1 actor name and 1 item description which aren't showing on the txt file after using rpgmaker trans tool to extract the data, so I'll either leave it incomplete or have to edit directly the game and just post the translated file instead of the patch).

Just saying I'm still working on it.

Had to put it on stand by for some time due to real life obligation.
Back in work....

But there still some part that don't feel right when translating.

Hmm, here's my take on the stuff up there:

鋼板から打ち出した鉄の胸当て。
I would actually automatically translate 鉄の胸当て as "iron breastplate," thus making the description "Iron breastplate made forged from steel plates" ... :confused: I would look at other breastplates and look for a series. Is there a copper -> iron -> gold -> blah blah sort of thing going on? Your call, and I would prefer the description and item name to be consistent.

The crest of Lord Alrum, the hero called the Golden Mage.

His dying wish was to bestow his great powers on one deemed worthy. - I took liberty with "his great powers" rather than just "a great power," but I think it's justified :)

Er. Um. Hmm. Huh. Uhh. Well, I'm not sure where you got the "blurring" part. The "mirror" might make sense. Worst case scenario, there's some dude called Regiou. Let's see if anyone else has an idea.

This is the name of an item, right, not a skill? I think you can call it whatever you want. Even Japanese people won't want something with that name. The developer was probably just looking for something fancy or intimidating, so try making your own :)

アウルムのコイン
Alrum Coin, or Alrum's Coin if it's a unique item. Referring to Lord Alrum in your first question.

メイル, アルマ, リューシカ
I highly prefer Mel, Alma, and Rusica. The first two I'm pretty sure are Western -> Japanese conversions of those names, but Rusica might be intentionally a different language, like Elvish or something. Or the developer didn't realize it's not a common Western name.

I'll start playing once you have something up. Also, I use (well, actually ChiiTrans) for translating the harder parts of Rune Pharmacy, coupled with . They seem to give the most reasonable translations overall. Google sucks. Another tool that helps a ton with RPGMakerTrans is (on Windows at least, not sure what you would use for non-Windows). You can search for strings - in Japanese! :eek: - in all the patch files.

I was putting back for a better, fuller translation since it's my first before sharing, but I really am slow on this (plus lacking free time for the project).

Well, since asked, I'll throw the actual translation patch file (rpgtrans tool ^^).

It's not finished and unchecked - The game run without problem, but I didn't check yet for text too long, syntax error.... plus english isn't my native language so there bound to be error, and lastly there some term rpgtrans didn't pick-up. I'll do them at the end directly from rpgmaker.

Sadly taking a pre patch save won't allow to get the character name translated. But it's really easy to get maxed out to the point of running on everything with cheatengine for testing purpose.....

@Hoofiewoofie : I checked your comment. For the armor, there always a kind of progress like : leather, iron, silver, mithril, legendary. But my problem is the armor name always is "iron" whatever tool I try, while the armor description, always use the term steel, again whatever tool I use for translation.

Thanks for the other translation, dread alone seem weird for an enemie name, I'll check later to see If I can't find a better name (maybe nightmare if it's a ghost-kind of monster).

Not certain about alrum, since the official title and other item are making reference to "the golden treasure" & "golden hero". However "aurum" is the latin term for gold / golden; and a quick search bring up "Al-Rum" as a term for the Roman (of the roman empire) in the Coran... So I get back to latin and gold. I'll think about it later.

I'll have a look at the tool / site you point out for better work.

Finished the core of the partial.

I'll try to do Troops and common event for the final partial.

I've updated the latest version, although I didn't had time to proofread it yet.
I know some translation are sometime too long to appear or not 100 % accurate (some skill describe as one / multi target being the opposite for exemple) after a some quick testing.

At least, it should be working.

Not the best, but I wanted to have something to hand over for X-mas.


When I see the workload and the amount of time I already spent on the PT, I doubt I'll go for full after finishing the PT... but I still got some time to think about that ^^

Litle bump to gave some news.

I've finish the proofreading on what I translated. I suspect I miss a couple of mistyping and the english isn't perfect since it's not my native language.

I'll start on the "troops" and probably "commonevents" to finish the work before making a new release, since they seem to be mostly in battle text. That should gave me an idea of the work amount to translate text & dialogue compared to the name / description of skill & item.

Just a bit of info on the statu.

Have to get into the script file to translate some of the custom menu terms. It take some extra time to search for the terms and check that the change in the script aren''t bugging or breaking the translation.

Ok, no progress since last time.

Pint of fact my computer broke. I had to to a full reinstall and change the HDD hosting the translation files.
I had a backup about where I was on the last comment.
So I really lost the spark here, even while I wanted to do it good and nice.

So I'll retake the files and test again to make sure it's not game breaking, but I'm giving up translating more than the usual partial.

Maybe I'll get the spark to finish at a later time, but I'm not certain.
Hope someone will take over one day.

PS : I doubt I'll have time to make some trial on the backup patch I had before next week what with all the stuff to reinstall.

Found the time & courage to redo some of the stuff I lose.

Actual work done for the final release version of the partial:
Actors - Done
Armors - Done
Classes - Done
Enemies - Done
Items - Done
Skill - Done
States - Done
System - Done
Weapons - Done
Script - Custom menu part & achievement list Done
Common event - custom menu part in there Done
Map 75, 76 106 - The 3 riddles of the game, translated all I found in .txt part about them.
Map 129 for the NG+ option translated

Work left :
Typo error for skill / item / menu / enemies and translation for the riddle & NG+ map done. Just lef to play through the game to check it's not broken (about 20% done)

Not gonna gave a deadline because I can't guarantee to follow it. But I'm aiming to finish this month.

PS : release will be in both data folder for easy use and rpgtrans patch if someone want to take over (or improve my work).
note - some part aren't in the rpgtrans patch : text appearing in scroll mode aren't in the .txt files, so I had do to it manually for one riddle => that translation will be in the data folder but not the pacth file (I'll add a txt file for it).
