Hi guys
Well I read the whole 8 pages of the topic and changed all kind of stuff on the computer and the mnfserver still doesnt work.. I tried all versions of the server but i can't play any games (except the one that do not require the server). I think my problem is coming from the HOSTS file even though I added the line required as you can see here : http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/100/hostsd.jpg/ When I run the mnfserver.exe the cmd frame says something like "Redirection failed.. Try editing the hosts file yourself." .. ![]() I tried to ping www.meetandfuckgames.com and I didn't get my ip.. so there must be something wrong here. Do you have any kind of solution for this ? My computer is running on Windows Vista 32bits I already tried the Windows XP compatibility / running as administrator (i'm the only user of the computer and it's set as admin). Some games are just opening and stay at 0%. Others just show a black/white/grey screen. Let me know if you have some questions about my computer. Thanks for your help ![]() PS : I even tried to modify the hosts file like in the video from the previous post, but it didn't work either .. Last edited by Shinoux; 27th October 2011 at 19:48. |

How are you starting the games? You are supposed to open www.meetandfuckgames.com on your browser (which will be redirected to the server you opened thanks to the hosts file). If when you do so you get into the REAL meetandfuckgames website, then you're with HOSTS file problem. Otherwise, it's something else. With older versions, sometimes the games would lock at 0% and you just had to keep F5ing until it worked. |

There's no redirection at all, even if the hosts file is changed. So yeah the problem must be around this file :/ But I can't see any way to fix it. *still looking on the internet*
As you can see the .exe always says the same thing with any version of the server.

Why are you getting a 'failure to initialize Windows sockets' when it lists what process is listening on port 80? Are you sure you are running as administrator?
You can remove the huge post now btw

HOW TO RUN MNF SERVER!!
For those having problems running the MNF Server. You need to open the server as an administrator. If it says Port 80 is in use, it must be disabled. To find out what, do the following: 1. Run command prompt as administrator 2. Type in "netstat -abo" and see what program is running and shut it down. 3. If not given, find out which PID is blocking 0.0.0.0:80 (If it's PID 4, skip ahead to #5) 4. Ctrl + Alt + Del and open Task Manager, view "Services," find the PID and shut it down. IF PID IS NOT LISTED IN SERVICES... Then it's probably IIS or World Wide Web Publishing Service. To shut it down.. 5. Open Control Panel and Hit "System and Security" 6. Find and open "Administrative Tools"... you need to be an admin to do this. 7. Open services, and scroll down to World Wide Web Publishing Service. 8. Click on it and on the left hand side it will ask to "Stop the Service." Took me 2 hours to figure this out but there you go. World Wide Web Publishing Service is a Microsoft program that sometimes is automatically turned on during an update and does not show up in task manager. |

You guys are going to hate me, but I have a completely different problem that I have no fucking clue how to fix. Just so you know, though, I spent the past hour combing this thread, and no one else seems to be having the same problem as I am.
When I downloaded and extracted the original .rar, mnfserver11.exe simply wasn't there. Or else, it IS there, but seems to be some strange kind of invisible that I cannot fix. The same thing happened with each other package; while navigating the archives, I can clearly see that I have downloaded mnfserver11, 12, and 13.exe, but when I extract the archives, the extracted forms do not show up. I have tried downloading these files separately from other sources, but the same thing happens. No error messages. I can't even get that far. Running Windows 7 Home premium 64bit. Please help? |

qSatisfaction - I used Winrar because from experience it extracts everything easily, what program are you using? Also I've never heard of that happening, If I were you I'd get a different zip program and try again.

hello. I tried to do this some months back and completely FUBARed. guess i'll ask if there's any way to repair the damage.
in trying to get the HOSTS file to work, I accidentally deleted the HOSTS file. I still have a file with all of the code on it, but it's not the HOSTS file that the computer will read. how do I fix this fuck-up and get the HOSTS file back on my computer, so I can try doing all these shenanigans again?

![]() Since I wasn't allowed to edit mine in notepad (or at least save changes, even in admin mode!) Notepad also didn't want to save without the .txt extension! wtf - Edit - If you have any problems let me know IN A PM, please. [Part 1: Editing and saving] ** <=- I did not mention any of the following User Account Control (UAC) dialogs that will probably pop up Access Denied.jpguac-in-action.jpg That is not the EXACT one that will pop up, as I couldn't take a Print Screen of mine for some reason But that is a valid example, if you encounter this just select continue (If you are not on an administrator account it will ask for an admin password, YOU MUST have that password to do this) If you see "**" in the directions you will likely encounter the UAC there 1. Press Start and in the search bar enter "Explorer C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" (without quotes) and hit enter. 2. In the explorer Right Click the file called "HOSTS" and select copy 3. Right click the explorer (Not any files, the white background) and select paste**, it should create a copy called "HOSTS - Copy" 4. Now open up Notepad in admin mode (Enter "Notepad.exe" into search and RIGHT click it and select "Run as administrator"**) 5. Select file, Open.. 6. Enter into the File name: Dialog box "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\HOSTS - Copy" (without quotes) and hit enter. 7. Edit a new line of "127.0.0.1 www.meetandfuckgames.com www.meetandfuckgames.com" 8. File Save as... If your system allows you to save the file as "HOSTS" (Without .txt extension), Congrats you are done. (Try it) Otherwise pick any name you want (Hosts.txt is fine) and make it short and without any spaces (Trust me, if you curious about why see below). 9. I will now refer to the copied HOSTS file as "copyfile.txt" for less complexity. If you want to rename it to this go ahead. (I don't know why this is step 9 either, don't ask) [Part 2: Replacing HOSTS] Now before I start the steps I need to advise you to remember steps 1 & 2 as command prompt doesn't allow all commands to be run if it is not on administrator mode 1. Go to start and type in "Cmd" in search 2. Again RIGHT click and select "Run as administrator"** 3. You should see this: Cmd Prompt.jpg The last line might be a different directory such as say "C:\Users\Admin>" But the important part is you are now using Command Prompt 4. Type the following (Without quotations) and press enter "cd C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" You may notice if you are a fan of copy & paste (I.e. Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v) that there is now a ^v on the screen You have now declared war on your computer, sleep with your eyes open (just kidding) Right click and Select paste instead, if that doesn't work, well then I guess you will get more typing practice for your next Wpm test :P 5. You should see this now: Note: the blinking underscore _ is the cursor if you haven't figured that out yet 6. You will now proceed to replace the old original file with the new awesomely-edited-by-you file So please for the love of God, Type the following (Without quotations) and press enter "move copyfile.txt HOSTS" 7. FINALLY you are done, go drink a beer (if you are 21+ of course, if not, use your 5th amendment rights) you deserve it for giving a big middle finger to the damn windows cock-blocker, yay loop-holes! 8. I apologize for my good/bad jokes, horrifying (pixelated) images and/or any offense/trauma I may have caused you, Good luck to you! Notes: As you may not be aware, the Command Prompt (Cmd) does not correctly work syntax of file paths with spaces in it (as it reads it as only 2 strings). If you use quotations "" for the file path you can use as many spaces as you wish and it will only have 2 strings example: move "C:\Users\Admin\Awesome File path\notes with spaces everywhere.txt" "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\HOSTS" I can only dream of what you would store in that file directory Also I have no idea why I cannot re-save the changed file HOSTS in administrator mode with notepad running as admin WTF?! stupid vista After sumbitting the edit this looks rather long, am I going to have to shorten it or take out any pics? Nvm, F that, I took out 3 images and put them into links ![]() - End Edit - P.s. if you have any problems let me know p.s.s. I have my own problems with mnfserver myself, but decided not to post all the details and simply ask this: I am assuming after reading all 9 pages that it DOES NOT work for vista period. correct? And will it work for Windows 7 32-bit? Last edited by pineapple1029; 20th December 2011 at 17:43. Reason: Images were removed from tinypic, uploaded them to ulmf.org instead |

As far as I know, it should/can work on Vista, as I have gotten reports that it does work. All I'm saying it's unsupported because I only tested under Win7 64-bit.

I seem to be having the all versions instantly close after opening problem, except for mnfserver 11 which when works, refuses to load the meetandfuckgames.com custom address (Never stops loading absolutely nothing) Give me a bit to edit, I had a whole file written about all the details and decided to hold off until I got an answer Thanks for the fast response anyway Quote:
