Ehhh... this game was garbage but I actually kind of liked it. It felt like going into a Transformers movie sequel expecting absolutely garbage, but it delivered the garbage you wanted out of a medium like this. It was a ripoff, it brought no new ideas to the table and... was competently okay. Maybe my expectations were too low. I don't know. I guess I kind of dug this one?
I can't believe I'm the only one feeling this way, right? Am I alone here?

By the Taiwanese uploaders or girlcelly? I used the former and didn't have a problem. The latter has always been reliable. That just leaves your PC and an overly paranoid antivirus program.

I don't even see one uploaded by girlcelly at the moment.
First my antivirus found a trojan and then i couldn't even launch it as it was "different from my windows version" lol

There are two other torrents for this game which I've already mentioned. Both of them are reliable and smaller than what you got.
NewDragon might be a trusted uploader on nyaa, but I've never really trusted the releases since he's usually a reuploader who grabs stuff from others.

Either way, I would just download the 300MB version instead. It's the same torrent as the one on AS and I would imagine it's way faster to download.
Also, I recommend that people try it out right now if they have even the slightest urge. It's very possible that Smaverick will use the same DRM as the last game and force the latest version to be played. He did disable it later on but that might've been done because uploaders have lost interest in keeping up.
Edit: I wonder why there's 2 very distinct artists making the game over CGs. The ones in the bottom row have much smoother animation and have some shading to look nicer overall. Meanwhile the rest are the same choppy basic animations from the previous game. Perhaps they got another artist to do the animations, if that's the case, then their next game could potentially have some good h-scenes in it.
Also, how exactly do you beat the last stage? I killed the boss but I just go through some dialogue and it says game over. For reference, I played on normal difficulty and did modify some of the files at the end to make it easier. There could possibly be another preview of their next game.
Hm, I got suspicious at first since the 2 GB version is way larger than the expected 350MB listed on Dlsite. Turns out that there's a lot of repeated data or something and the game expands to a whopping 2.4GB when unzipped. So the 2GB+ one would be the unzipped version

I'm seeing a lot of those sharedassets files in the game folder. It's possible that the game is censoring with a pixelation overlay rather than directly censoring the CG. Does anyone know if it's possible to uncensor the game by replacing a certain file?

Tried the first level, and damn does the melee attack look indeed almost useless. Also, the one gameover animation I got had such abysmal recording quality for the girl's voice...
Still much room to improve overall, it seems to me. Maybe only being "inspired" *cough* by other games is not always enough?
At any regard, I'm glad there is a NewDragon (however he gets them) - if I hadn't completely misread the lay of nyaa-land, without him and girlcelly "forcing" mikocon's hand we would be having like 70% fewer releases free for the grabs, probably (or at least much-much later).

As for the Mai parody thing, I disagree. Copying a pose does not equal parody, especially since that pose is more common than you think. Regardless, 60%+ of H-contents are parodies so this is beyond a non-issue.

Who the hell cares. If someone copies something and the improves upon it (and I think Virus Z is better than Parasite in most respects) than as a consumer I can only benefit. People actually do this all the freaking time with commercial product as long as they don't directly steal source codes or things like that. Also, the guy who made Parasite doesn't even make games anymore so care even less. If there are any legal issues, they can sort it out themselves, not my problem.

But don't get me wrong, I don't hate this game or the developers but this time the assets they "borrowed" from other sources are just so obvious; on top of that the game seems more lazily made than the first game.
That's not even a parody, that's a blatantly traced-over sprite from Mai Shiranui. And that pose is common? Commonly known as Mai's pose? Is there any other character in any game with that pose beside Mai? In Virus Z2's case the girl's standing animation looks near identical to Mai Shiranui's in KOF13 with less frames. That's not just simply "copying a pose", but plagiarism.

I seem to be unable to view the CGs, they appear as a black screen, the only thing I can see is the x-ray on screen. Do you have any idea how this might have happened?

So, after playing the game, I noticed that some CGs in the gallery are just black screen with only the xray appearing. Some CGs will appear after reloading the game but they sometimes go back to black after another reload. Gave up playing the game after stage 5 and just used the full save. I hope they're not planning for another sequel...
