Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)

Oormi, for her part, would follow Melissa at a much more sane pace. She chose to simply walk after the mostly human woman and spend the few extra seconds she had needed to catch up basking in her relief that the spearwoman was too excited about whatever job she'd found to take a decent look around the foxgirls' shared room and discover the blind kitsune's lie.

She would, of course, catch up in time for Kherem to suddenly pop out of the shadows and irritably confront Melissa. Somehow though, the first thing that crossed her mind about the situation was relief that she was no longer the most embarrassingly-dressed person hanging around in front of the inn room doors. The second wasn't much better, being that perhaps she should avert her eyes in order to protect some sense of the male kitsune's modesty, which she did even though averting her eyes meant absolutely nothing practically and, both because of her method of vision and the spiritual power he had used in crafting it, his magic codpiece remained the most prominent thing in her wave vision.

It was only her third set of thoughts that were anything approaching the more serious part of the situation. I wonder why Kherem is so angry at Melissa? She had remembered him being upset earlier, but couldn't recall ever personally discovering just what had transpired between the two to make him so irritable toward the spearwoman. It couldn't have all been because she 'stuck a finger up his ass' right? Oormi briefly wondered if maybe she shouldn't try to reassure him that there was nothing wrong with trying that sort of thing, she had accidentally stumbled upon, and very quickly apologized fled the scene of, more than one even stranger act between two lovers before she had gone blind. Judging by how upset the tall man was in the moment though, she guessed it probably wasn't the best time.

She ended up looking around for reasons to keep the conversation moving, preferably far away from whatever had upset Kherem. Mostly, she repeatedly, and completely suspiciously, kept glancing in the direction of her rented room looking for Lumi, who she was sure had heard her earlier and was hoping would show up soon to hopefully make the discussion a happier one. Although Kherem probably noticed the sneakier foxgirl well before she did, once the blind kitsune did realize the other woman was on her way she would rather abruptly call out. "Oh, Lumi, there you are! What a coincidence!" Oormi did her best to pretend that she hadn't literally just been in bed with the other kitsune while simultaneously attempting to turn both Kherem and Melissa's attention to their fourth teammate's arrival. "We were just waiting for you so we could discuss a job that Melissa found!"

Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)

The lecherous stare and whistle Kherem had recieved from Melissa were only marginally less undesired than the womans pressence. While he wasn't one to loathe attention most of the time, the person in question was the issue that didn't sit too well with him. But he couldn't blame that all on her, considering it had been his decision to not take himself the time to properly cover himself up. Though Melissa proving sensible enough not to further provoke him further didn't make him feel it was necessary to go through that endeavor right now.

Had it at all been possible the tall kitsune's expression would've soured further as Melissa began to talk. That she pointed out Oormi being present made him roll his eyes briefly... If mostly to try and keep his eyes from lingering upon the female kitsune whom were marginally more decent than himself. Though something about what Melissa said, about Lumi having to be tracked down, had him raise a brow questioningly while giving her a skeptical look.

And then he was unfortunate enough to breathe in through his nose. While it wasn't as keen as a beast's nose might be, it was keener than your average human one. Just enough for him to pick up the scents from his companions before him. The strongest scent was of course the one coming from Melissa, and it had a certain tang to it that wasn't terribly hard to figure out. There was also something about Oormi's scent too, but he couldn't quite place it as Melissa's scent was proving far more prominent in his nostrils.

He recoiled visibly, taking a small step back as he brought his left hand up to pinch his nose shut, as Oormi turned to greet Lumi. The second kitsune woman's approach had went entirely unnoticed to him, as he his attention had in so many ways been held by Melissa. This conversation was only going to end well, and with his sanity intact, if he made sure it ended quickly. Oormi had only just finished explaining the situation to Lumi as Kherem spoke up raptly, his voice part irritable, part dismayed, and part firm. "And that discussion can wait until tomorrow. If we as a group is to accept a job of any sort, it is one we shall all be present for. And I will not leave my room until after I've had my rest." As he spoke his gaze fell onto the two female kitsunes, and while Oormi might not see his eyes narrow and his remain as stern as ever, he was giving them as much choice on the matter as he was offering Melissa. None, that is.

He would however grimace in mock-disgust as he next turned his attention to Melissa, and likewise spoke in a tone that left little compromise open. "You ought to have a bath before you sleep. And you are not to accept this job without all of us present. If it is urgent, we can go there tomorrow, right after we've had breakfast. But not before then. Have I made myself understood?" The last part, the question in regards to Melissa's understanding, was spoken with a harsher tone. It wasn't something she was meant to answer. "Goodnight.", was the last word the towering male had to say before the shadows near his feet surged up along his legs; as his body began to sink into the swirling black mass until completely submerged.

The resulting blob of partially corporeal darkness would next shoot out from where Kherem had been moments prior, gushing past and around Melissa's lower legs and feet before washing into the tight crevice between the floor and the door leading to the swordsmans room. As the lanky kitsune emerged and regained his fully corporeal form he would both finally let go of his nose and dismiss the shadow-wrought codpiece of his as he stumbled forward. An audible gasp escaped his lips at first, but what followed next was a quiet cursing as he finally took notice of his now erect maleness.

Gods-damned Melissa, he had just wanted to sleep in peace. Though at least he didn't have to be embarassed about this infront of the other two of his companions... Or Melissa. Being naked before her was probably the worst situation. Stupid, smelly, gods-damned Melissa.

Unless the antagonistic woman would prove particularly boisterous and a continued pain in his fluffy arse, the swordsman would crawl into his bed for a second time this day in an attempt to rest... And this time it would be a more troublesome endeavor. The blasted woman's blasted smell was still fresh in his mind, and his traitorous trouser-snake wasn't showing any signs of settling down any time soon either.

Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)

Kherem's sudden recoiling from nothing had Melissa raising an eyebrow, but she didn't bother to raise comment. A few moments later, she didn't have the opportunity, as the the overly grumpy fox-man rejected the notion of a conversation, leaving the human shocked as her brow furrowed, but unable to speak more than a "bu..." under Kherem's annoyance. That annoyance deepened into further confusion when the kitsune suggested his barbaric companion needed to bath. She hadn't the slightest as to why he would request such a thing, since she couldn't notice any unusual smell, herself...

The male's vanishing act cut off the demi-human before she could speak anything more than "Wh...". Melissa was not one to be stunned for long, however, and quickly made her opinion known.
"Hey! What the hell!?" she cried, thumping the door twice. "But... cm'on! Just- listen, would you!?"

Most likely finding her demands to be unanswered, or answered only by hostility, the human growled angrily. She had been excited, but now... now there was an obstacle to the excitment. One she intended to overcome.

"Rrrh... if he won't leave his room, we'll just have to take this to him...!" she asserted to the two other kitsune, giving them as little rooom for comment as Kherem himself had. Without bothering to conceal her actions, the thug checked the lock on Kherem's door, and, after breifly rummaging around in a poutch, removed what seemed to quite clearly be a lockpick. With any luck, Kherem would hear nothing after her initial, angry burst.

Kherem: HP = 75/90, PP = 55, EP = 55, Status = Fine

Melissa: HP = 34/59, PP = 65, EP = 44, Status = Fine

Lumi: HP = 54, PP = 70, EP = 56, Status = Fine

Oormi: HP = 80, PP = 72, EP = 26/60, Status = Fine, +12 Perception (Lesser Strength)

Rolls
Stealth (Melissa) : 41
Perception (Kherem) : 26

Melissa would pick the lock without making a sound, and other than a head poking out of a darkened doorway to stare at the cause of all the ruckus no one bothered the human or the two kitsune standing near her as she opened the door into Kherem's room without alerting him in the slightest.

Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)

Oormi frowned as the interaction went south so very quickly, and frowned all the harder as it culminated in breaking and entering after Kherem issued his ultimatum and retreated into his room. The foxgirl would whisper her doubts about Melissa's use of a lockpick even as the humanoid spearwoman worked to open their male teammate's door. "Is it really a good idea to break into his room after all that?" She would have also mentioned that it wasn't necessary and that she could cast a simple cantrip that would've allowed Melissa to phase through the door, but she didn't want to aid in the endeavor.

Her complaints would apparently fall on deaf ears, as by the end of it all the male kitsune's door would end up opened. The foxgirl was beginning to become frustrated by it all. She had just wanted to sleep and now she was accomplice to a break-in. Still, though she very much held the desire to return to her room and avoid whatever quarrel Kherem was nursing against Melissa, she chose to remain with the group. The kitsune needed a source of income and as such wanted to hear whatever job Melissa had in mind since she'd already been pulled out of her room. She wouldn't enter the male fox's room either though, instead remaining outside of the door and waiting for whatever might happen. She might yet need to pull Kherem off of Melissa or the other way around anyway, she supposed.

Lumi watches Kherem disappear under the door. I didn't know he could do that. I should bring him along next time I rob someone's house. More thieving skills would immediately come up as Melissa deftly picks the lock on Kherem's door - not that the locks of an inn would pose great difficulties to anyone versed in the game. Which brought up her own job offer. "Uh... before you go in and make Kherem even more mad, I have a job offer I'd like to look into as well, and I think the others got something similar. So maybe we should look into those before choosing which ones to do - and which one to do first."

Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)

Door unlocked and slightly ajar, preparing to silently sneak into Kherem's bed(room), Melissa paused at her companion's quiet addition. With continued caution, she released the handle and stepped away toward the awake kitsune pair. "...Really?" She asked, when far enough away that Kherem had no chance of hearing her, despite his open door. The warrior's excitiment slowly, visibly deflated as she mulled over the new information, though in the end she still seemed to be somewhat pleased. "Aw, damn. Still, what kind of job and coin, any idea?"

After hearing the rather vague nature of the written requests, Melissa only let out a short hum in response. "...Alright, I'll go give these mercs the bad news. We'll figure out what we're looking at tomorrow." On her way out of the inn, the rogue had the sense to re-lock and close Kherem's room, before returning to the Ranthis Circle in a far more sober way than she had left them.

Assuming that the daemon-spawn returned without incident, and the building was still open, she would open the door into the Ranthis Circle's place of operations with an apologetic look. "Aah, bad news..." she began, with the sheepish look of someone keenly aware they'd done something foolish. "Looks like some of the rest of the group had jobs put directly to 'em. We're going to have to sort through those requests first before we can take on any of this... sorry."

Oormi: HP = 80, PP = 72, EP = 26/60, Status = Fine, +12 Perception (Lesser Strength)

Melissa would be able to return to the Ranthis Circle with no molestation more severe than a drunken goblin stumbling into her and grabbing a handful of her ass before stumbling away, not even so much as disturbing any of her possessions in case she was worried about being pickpocketed. The same woman was still behind the desk, and Melissa would find her nodding calmly in response to the half daemon's news about their hesitance to accept the contract. "It's quite alright," she said, "it may still be here for a while, or it might not. Feel free to step in again sometime." Unless Melissa had any other issues to resolve, she was free to do as she liked, though the hour was now fairly late and going to bed was likely getting more and more appealing.

Oormi and Lumi would be able to return to bed and do as they preferred, though going to sleep was likely a sound plan by this point. Kherem had already fallen into a restless slumber, never even noticing the opening and closing of his door courtesy of Melissa. If all four went to bed, they would have ample time to figure out what they could do to make a bit of money in the morning, possibly being served breakfast depending on whether or not such had been paid for. (I don't actually remember of I'd said whether breakfast was included or not. Please make progress happen, augh.)

I... don't know, actually. The letter I got suggested something a little less... overt, though." Lumi replies to Melissa's question before watching the odd scoundrel disappear again. The kitsune briefly contemplates heading to check out the work offer, before glancing at Oormi and letting out a sigh. She wasn't crazy enough to go into a place like that without a backup, and the other kitsune probably wouldn't appreciate being dragged halfway across the city. Muttering to herself, Lumi heads back to bed, swearing under her breath not to leave it before morning no matter what.

Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)

"Mine was vague too," the blind foxgirl remarked, completely oblivious to what Lumi actually meant by overt. "It's from a nobleman though, so I bet it'll pay well," she offered.

The human-ish woman's following decision to leave the job discussion until the next morning would offer Oormi some relief, mostly because she didn't want to have to step into whatever altercation Melissa might have with Kherem if she followed through in breaking into the man's room. "Be safe," she would offer as a farewell before the woman went off to deal with the mercenaries. "If you can't get a room when you come back then just come to ours," she suggested.

The blind kitsune would then return to her room for the night as Lumi had. Without much fanfare she would crawl into bed, intent on following a similar pledge to that of the other foxgirl. The frustration of her two aborted orgasms had faded and she was tired, so she would do her best to sleep as if nothing had happened and leave any awkward conversations or thoughts for when she woke up. She would only temporarily extricate herself from the warm embrace of the mattress and blanket if Melissa took her offer and came knocking, at which point she would allow the spearwoman to come in and sleep wherever she could make herself comfortable. At some point though, she would drift off to sleep and stay asleep for the rest of the night.

~~~
Oormi would rise early, as she often did, and once she did she would follow her typical morning routine, regardless of the number of people in the room with her. She would start her routine first by immediately casting the spell necessary to grant her vision, second by making sure that her signet ring was still on her thumb, and finally by pulling herself out of bed and to her feet before briefly stretching. If Lumi, or Melissa if she had chosen to stay in the room as well, were up she would turn toward them and offer them a cheery "good morning" before setting herself to the rest of her daily preparations.
She would dress herself in the cheongsam and blindfold from the prior day before hanging her sword at her hip. The kitsune would do nothing to her hair that day except to comb it out using small applications of cantrips, in the end allowing it to hang freely to the middle of her back. She would leave her other clothes and her hunting bow in the neat pile she had put them in the previous night, only picking up her remaining potion from the fey, her key, and her letters before moving to exit the room. "I'm going to pay for another night. I'll be waiting downstairs," she would note before leaving the room if any of the other occupants of the other occupants were awake.
From there, she would do as she said. After taking a brief detour to pay for a second night in the room she had rented using her remaining potion, she would take a seat in the common room and patiently await the arrival of her allies so that they might discuss their various job offers. Or, at least, she would wait patiently at first. After waiting for a while she grew bored, and as she grew bored she eventually began to consider the idea of pursuing her own letter to at least get a lead on exactly what it might entail. Finally, in a moment of impulsiveness she would decide to give it a quick look. The blind girl would give the letter another look over and then approach the bartender once more to see if he could offer any directions to the nobleman's manor, pursuing directions from the waitresses if he proved unable to offer any. After she had some idea of where to head, she'd give her gear a quick once over and leave the tavern, moving in that direction. She might be back before the others were ready to go anyway.
Oormi recasts her +12 perception buff after she wakes back up, putting her back at 58/60 EP and leaving everything else exactly the same. No stat changes from XP expenditure.
Other than that she's bartering for another night's stay with her remaining EP potion and then heads off to pursue her own letter.
(My patience is about done with Host and Fish. I'm not even sure if I ought to give either of you another chance after this shit, nor if I want to continue GMing for you if I do permit your characters to continue. If you lose interest in the game, all you need to do is tell me. Taking months between posts isn't acceptable behavior for a group thread. This is a notice of my general annoyance with you and an announcement that I'm probably splitting Oormi and possibly Lumi depending on Spider's preferences off from the rest of you lot permanently, regardless of any other outcomes.)
Going downstairs, Oormi would be able to barter for a second night with another potion, and had breakfast off of her first. After that, however, her impatience eventually got the better of her while waiting for their companions and she asked the bartender for directions as to the mansion of the man who had sent her the letter she'd received. The young kitsune would be given what she desired, and while reading the street signs and numbers was out of the question, asking the easily identifiable city guards would lead her to the given address, and the last she asked would simply escort her to the door of the mansion.
There she would be greeted by a tall blue skinned woman in dark red robes, with horns nearly as long as Oormi's forearms sprouting from her head in a v and eyes that were all red, who would curtly ask her what her business was. Should she present the letter or explain herself, the greeter's demeanor would change dramatically, as she smiled warmly and bowed, welcoming the kitsune and showing her to a waiting room where she was left to wait, either in a comfortable chair or standing, until the woman returned some ten or so minutes later and announced that the master of the house was ready to see her.
Led into a study that looked like it was under some fairly hefty construction, unlike the entrance hall and waiting room she'd initially been through, Oormi would find herself facing a man who was only a few inches taller than she was, with dark hair and green eyes, a careworn face that possessed an easy smile, and was clad in a fine shirt. "Ahhh, hello there!" he said brightly, rising from a chair set beside a desk with a half eaten stack of pancakes slavered in blue sweet smelling sauce and an open book propped up against some other books on it. "The arena champion!" he continued while offering his hand, opting to bring it up to his lips to kiss her knuckles rather than shake it should she allow it.
"Welcome, welcome! Why don't we start with some proper introductions? My name is Sir Reginald Percival Alvarien the 3rd, but you can skip all the titles and other malarky and just call me Reggie if you please!" he went on to say, his every word comfortable and casual despite his title, which the faerie raised kitsune would have been taught to respect if not by her parents than by her other mentors. "By what do you prefer to be called?" he asked once his own title was delivered, giving Oormi an opportunity to speak for the first time since she'd been ushered into his office in the midst of his breakfast.
Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)
Following breakfast, which did much to sate her stomach but little for her ensuing boredom, the blind kitsune's search would work out rather well for her. She forgot the directions given to her halfway to her destination but fortunately there were guards around and she, as she didn't believe she had any reason to be mistrustful of them, didn't shy away from asking one a question each time she managed to make a wrong turn or otherwise end up off course. The final one even led her directly to the mansion proper, which earned her gratitude given how overwhelming the hustle and bustle of the sprawling urban maze was after living the entire rest of her life in the tranquility of the forest. "Thank you for your help," she would offer as a farewell before moving to meet the apparent seneschal of the mansion.
With Oormi's method of sight, the rich crimson of the woman's dress and the exotic hue of her skin was lost on the foxgirl. Her elongated horns made for an impressive sight bathed in a rainbow of energy as they were, however. The kitsune wasn't off-put by the woman's initial curtness, after all a man with such a prestigious title in such a populated place surely had many visitors and it was likely constantly the woman's job to sort out the ones her master would desire meeting from the ones he wouldn't. "I received this letter from Sir Reginald," she would patiently reply, presenting the parchment to the woman. "Thank you, Miss," she would continue once she had been led to the waiting room before the woman walked off.
The kitsune would spend the minutes she waited on her feet, too full of anxious energy to sit down and so instead nervously shifting her weight from one foot to the other even as she tried to busy herself by taking in the details of the room. Eventually that became pacing and running her fingers along the ornate furniture as it became obvious that she couldn't appreciate the various items used to decorate the room through her mode of vision. Even that wasn't enough to keep her attention. Oormi's head was racing at what the visit meant. It was one thing to see 'Sir' and similar such titles on paper but it was another thing entirely to see the man's holdings and realize that he very obviously did hold some level of clout, and to realize that such a man had requested her. One day in the city and she'd merited such a letter, her quest to prove herself might prove more fruitful than she ever could've hoped.
She was absentmindedly running her fingers across the carefully carved arms of one of the chairs, outwardly attempting to admire their craftsmanship while inwardly building up her own hopes, when the blue-skinned woman returned for her. She would offer thanks again before following her into the study to meet the man who had sent the letter. Upon seeing the man she offered a small, respectful curtsy first and her hand second once he had closed the distance between them. She raised her eyebrows in surprise, which was thankfully mostly hidden by the presence of her blindfold, but didn't protest as he brought her hand to his lips. It wasn't a gesture that she was completely unfamiliar with, though it was one that she was unused to receiving given that her mother would've been half-likely to challenge anyone who offered her it to a duel to the death if she'd seen them.
"It's a pleasure to meet you in person, Sir- er, Reggie," she would reply as courteously as she could with her minor stumble. Her mother and the faeries had drilled her on the importance of titles all through her youth, despite the former typically not suffering anyone to actually use any of her titles and not using them herself in anything but jest a majority of the time, and so by then it was more difficult for the blind kitsune to be informal than it was to give him the proper respect of his station. She would try by his request, at least. "Just Oormi is fine. I have no titles and even if I did I certainly wouldn't require you to use one."
Despite the comfortable bed Lumi would, eventually, manage to force herself to get up and clothed. Remembering that she still has some money left, she slips to the common room of the inn for some breakfast and notices that everyone else seems to be gone. Paying for the breakfast the kitsune takes it to a corner table. After eating and when none of the others showed up, a frown would appear on Lumi's face. As nice as it would be to stay around the others, she couldn't just sit here all day. Seeing little else to do, she heads to the docks to find the Leaky Liferaft.
Oormi: HP = 80, PP = 72, EP = 58/60, Status = Fine, +12 Perception (Lesser Strength)
~~~~Lumi~~~~

Waking up after Oormi and going downstairs, Lumi would be able to pay 3 denarii for breakfast and have a hearty meal. Heading to the Leaky Liferaft, the bar she'd been directed to down by the docks, Lumi found herself entering an almost empty tavern that looked like it had come from somewhere other than Acheron, a nearly empty room with only a handful of people in it, many of whom seemed to be either nursing hangovers or generally desiring to be left to their own devices. Everyone from the bartender to the single woman tiredly moving around the bar in a maid's uniform to the half dozen or so patrons hanging around were fairly plan looking, none of them sporting any features marking them as not human, and none of them making much of her entrance.

~~~~Oormi~~~~
"Wonderful!" Reggie said brightly after Oormi gave him her name, "come right this way, right this way my dear lady!" Se felt the man wrap an arm around her waist and scoop her forward, directing her from the study into an adjoining room that was actually part of the same one, but a strange archway had been constructed between them. He pulled her along until they arrived at another desk, this one larger and with several papers that she couldn't read due to their mundane ink spread across it.
"Please, sit right there!" he said, directing her to take a seat on a couch set opposite the desk's chair which, upon taking her weight, felt as if it were made of leather. "Now, I know that you are hard of sight, but do you read much? I am afraid that some parts of what I am about to tell you in explanation of what I would hire you to do for me are somewhat.... Well, something out of a fairytale really! I know that probably sounds odd to be worried about when we're in a city run by literal demons, but still, I feel the need to note it and would warn you that what I have to say may seem... Outlandish!"
Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)
The hand around her waist was another gesture that she wasn't entirely used to after so much time under her protective mother. She still wouldn't complain though, and instead simply did her best to keep up with the excitable man as best she could until she was directed to take a seat on the couch. She idly ran her fingers over the thing as she first settled in to figure out if it was truly leather. It made for a surprisingly comfortable seat even though she worked to keep proper posture on it. It may very well have been even more comfortable than her bed at the inn, she could certainly imagine it to be easy to lie down and drift off to sleep on.
When the man began his explanation though, she gave him her rapt attention. Hard of sight, that was a new one. "Not as much as I would like, I fear. Books were difficult to come by where I was raised," she would reply following his initial explanation. "But I'm familiar with many of the tales. I was raised among Summer fey and often listened in when the faeries gathered to tell stories, and my mother used to tell me the human stories before bed each night. I won't let it affect how I take your explanation," she promised, hopefully truthfully.
"Ahaha! Well, that makes things simpler," her host said following Oormi's revelation. Clearing his throat, he paused a moment before launching into his tale; "As you may know given my last name, I come from an old family. A very old family. In my distant ancestry is the first emperor of Badaria, the greatest leader in Donevrion's history! I know some may not value bloodlines these days, but I do! More importantly, I value the artifacts of history tied to those bloodlines!
"Anyway... Legends say that King Artorious was a great warrior in addition to being a great leader. A suit of armor said to be his sat in the museum in the Necropolis, and presumably still sits there unless the xenos have despoiled it somehow. His shield sits over the grand hearth in the ancient palace in Cheydin, still showing signs of magical power from time to time. What history has lost track of, however... Is the king's blade!"
The nobleman paused for dramatic effect, grinning at Oormi even though the blind kitsune might not be able to view the expression. "I haven't found it.... But I have clues, and clues as to where I can get more. The blade belongs with my family, and with the help of capable individuals such as yourself, I think that it might be restored to its rightful place!" He paused again, and this time delivered an impassioned plea; "Will you aid me in this quest, young noble warrior? I can promise glory, and great rewards if you help me succeed in finding the sword! I will repay you in any way that I can!"
Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)
The knight could certainly count his audience as enraptured by his tale. Oormi watched him with her undivided attention, her tail beginning to slowly wag behind her back and picking up pace as he spun his story. Her eyes would have gleamed with her interest if they'd been visible. The man had struck into an area of excitement for Oormi. Her mother's tales were a large part of what had fostered her love for swordsmanship. Kings and Queens of the past, warriors standing against great odds to protect their people, and ancient heroes.
And the First King! She had heard a faerie version of the tale and her mother had shared a version that she remembered from her own childhood. How had she not realized that the man she was speaking to shared his family name? It might not have been a true connection, of course, but still! A chance to hunt for a legendary blade and secure her own place not as some blinded child who had shown promise for her parentage but an adventurer and a swordsman in her own right! What greater reward could there be than that?
"Of course!" The kitsune would excitedly agree, completely wound up in her host's tale. She never even stopped to consider whether it was a good idea, the likelihood of actually finding such an artifact, or even if Reginald was the right man to hunt such a thing for. Her brain was too busy rushing through the possibilities of what it would mean if she really succeeded at the same rate at which her tail was wagging, she was left with no time to think it through. "I'll gladly help you hunt for the First King's weapon, s- Reggie!"
"Excellent!" Reggie replied excitedly, "I don't know where the sword is, obviously, or I'd go and get it myself. There will be danger involved, but I am confident that you can handle it, and your, ahhh, disability may actually give you an advantage against the rumored final guardian.
"We don't need to worry about that now though. First, there's a map we need! Specifically, a map to the king's tomb. I've had it shipped here by a local vendor at great expense, but I need someone who can defend themselves to pick it up for me! Have you ever been to the Asp's Den?"
Re: This is a Great Plan (Smokefish, Host, Hafnium, and Hentaispider)
The idea that her blindness would be a direct benefit against something was about as new as the description 'hard of sight.' It was almost infectious. She couldn't help but want to inquire about just what this final guardian might be that not being able to see it in the traditional sense would be an advantage. Asking about the last step when she hadn't even started to work on the first step seemed a bit premature though.
"I can't say I have. Truth be told, I only arrived in Acheron proper yesterday." Oormi's pride was of a different sort from many of the members of her family. She had it and she over-nursed it as many of her close relations did, but it took little wounding from admitting her inexperience in an area. Better that her benefactor know her limitations earlier rather than later. "I would benefit from any sort of directions, but there's no need to worry about me getting lost on my return. I'll have no issues finding my way back here once I'm there, I have a few tricks for that. I'm confident in my ability to defend myself too. Are the odds of being attacked high or are you just taking precautions?"
"I'm just taking precautions, I assure you! It's not out of the way, you can find the main streets, right? It's on the one that connects to the two routes out of town, right at the intersection where it meets the road leading to the arena. You probably passed it to get there the first time, but I don't blame you for missing it."
