Newlife (TF Text Game)

Newlife is a text based game that follows the MC through normal, daily life. You go to work, the gym, dancing lessons, the club to seduce men or just have fun, and the occasional random event while your week goes by. This game requires Java to run, and has a rather in depth character creation before and following the Gender Swap.

Synopsis: You start off the game a man. That changes when you let your friend do a science experiment on you that turns you into a woman. Instead of going public with this new discovery you hide it because, in your friend's words, the government will vivisect you for study.

I've been following this one for a while and checking in every so often to see what's new. For a purely text-based game it's pretty good. The writing is well done and the events are good (I especially like the work related ones, being able to whore yourself out to please a client). I do have two big problems with the game, though.
1) There's not much in the way of resistance or unwillingness from your character when it comes to sex. The guy gets turned into a woman and is suddenly a cock hungry whore.
2) Nearly all the NPCs are procedurally generated. This means most of the characters end up feeling samey and repetitive. It'd be interesting to run into a friend or family member from the character's previous life who hits on her not knowing her real identity, or a neighbor who figures out your secret. Something more unique than Generic Male #27B.

The game is still in development and updates are pretty regular so I'm confident these problems will be addressed to some degree by the time the game hits v1.0.

It's an actual role-playing game, wherein you, the player, play a role.

So if you suddenly start turboslutting... that's because the game isn't trying to keep the player from getting your jollies. It's not about wearing down a character, working through the scripted corruption events, such that the player is then rewarded with porn.

On the other hand, the number of things you can do in most time slots is pretty limited. There is an unfortunate scarcity to the number of events that you can get that aren't "go somewhere, get aroused, maybe engage in sexual activity" ... repeatable ones seem to be only the Cake Shop, Treasure Hunter, and Old Man events.

The game seems a little light on content right now. Might take awhile to get to a point similar to CoC or TiTS. It makes up for you having a lot of control over sexual encounters, though.

The 'role' of which is 'guy who got turned into a woman'. If you're not going to use that role to any actual extent why bother with that role at all? Playing simply as a female makes much more sense with the current content.

Again, though, it's still somewhat early in development so hopefully he'll flesh out the main character more so that it actually fits better.

The game is still in development and more content is added every month. There's a time limit normally, which can be extended - though that may just be part of the backer version.

You'll be starting new games / characters often in this, and the personalities of the NPC characters aren't exactly completely fleshed out so, for now, you will be running into very similar characters in each playthrough. Though the base personalities are different from each other, there are not many of them. Yet.

I would like to point out that you can create your own custom NPCs as well and have them appear in the game. It's really simple to do so, too. Having some randoms is always fun, but if you'd like a specific look and type of person to appear in-game to be your lover or friend, it is entirely possible.
You can choose whatever traits you would like them to have, personality type, physical appearance, age etc.

Do keep in mind that this game only seems to get content updates once a month, though. Most other updates are bug fixes.

This looked like an interesting game... last year.

Unfortunately its another one of those games thats gone the drip feed content so my patreons keep paying me so much I don't have to work a day job way of things.
Guy's making nearly $5,000 a month from this, so it's hard to blame him

On topic, is there any lesbian content in the game? Procedurally generated males got old pretty fast, but girl-on-girl action seemed pretty nice, but I'm not sure if it's in game at all.

There doesn't seem to be any from what I've seen. I'm not sure if the author is planning on implementing any, you'd have to look at their blog for that.

There is. Sometimes when dancing at the club, you'll be approached by two women, and that can lead to a lesbian scene.

You can also play spin the bottle with girls and make out with them. You can also masturbate to your female friend if you she goes home drunk.

As for the game, it updates relatively slowly. The developer does seem to have some passion for this despite the lack of exciting new content. The developer defended their position on the development and on patreon once by stating that 5k/month isn't a lot and if the developer had really wanted money, they would have became a programmer and get paid a lot more instead of having a much more passive income such as this.

As for my view on this game, in just 2 hours, I had completed most of the events and most of which were somewhat boring and it felt as if it was a black and white choice. Either have sex or not. Nothing complex or exciting that gets you involved in the characters. You also have very little to do in the 50 weeks. You can't dump your boyfriend unless you cheat on him and opt to dump via phone when you are with a Jerk trait character. You can't really do much outside of buying the basics, dating a random dude, meet people, and get the final promotion you can get from your job.


IIRC, you can host a party which is drink, spin-the-bottle, dance, and flirt.

Going to the club can get a bit repetitive. Going to the gym seems to only affect your fitness for the mugging event, and allow you to start dating Horse I believe.


The developer is worth it if you want to pay one time and simply enjoy it once in awhile until the developer has made a lot of updates to the game. Otherwise, like most games, you might be shelling out a lot every month when very little has changed.

Well, that developer is a douche then. Getting paid $60k a year to barely work on such a simple game is, honestly, outstanding. Adding content to games like this is relatively trivial compared to pretty much every other type of game development project out there.

Girl life, that's a Russian Text game which has been out for quite a while. It's only the translation that's slow. Newlife has only been out for a year I think? But Newlife has better writing with more details but less content and more vanilla fetishes (Aka everything is consensual and 'rough' content is only available through consent / Role-play).

I think the 'darkest' fetish it has, is 'cuckold'. Which again is purely consensual where you control the scene. So not really that. Quality vanilla.

*snort* He's earning about as much as a senior programmer earns.
The only programmers that earn six figures are those worked old crappy legacy software donkeys years ago and the companies need to keep them around when it inevitably breaks.

So this game uses Java? I uninstalled Java a long time ago because of all the vulnerabilities. Did Oracle ever finish patching up all the issues?

Girl Life is the English translation project for a Russian game called ETO, which I believe was abandoned awhile back. The people working on the English version now are both translating and importing old Russian content while also putting in brand new content, from what I've gathered. So this New Life guy just ripped them off but is using Java instead of QSP and without any images? And gets paid over $5k a month? Wow, only in America I guess...
