Re: (7th Dream) Pretty Warrior May Cry (NOT YET RELEASED)

My only question at this point is jsut clarification.

I had previously assumed it was because I was playing the demo, but I figure I should at least mention that the save system doesn't work.

I mean, I can save and load, but when I exit out of the game it erases all my save files.

Again, I had assumed this was part of the demo, but I just thought I should check.
Works here. Flash probably doesn't have enough privileges there (I'm not sure UAC would affect this, so you probably told it to not save things on your computer sometime). Which OS are you on?

Re: (7th Dream) Pretty Warrior May Cry (NOT YET RELEASED)

Thanks for all the updates on this, 7thDream. I am throwing my hat in as well to state that I'll definitely buy the english version of this game. As much as this site (ULMF) shares, I think coming here and posting about it got you some extra sales. :) This looks like a high quality game, certainly worth the money.

Are you still set to release the english version on the 10th? (I know it's been asked already, sorry!)

Wow, okay, I feel like an idiot lol. It was just a privileges thing like you suggested.

Odd because I've never experienced a problem with any sort of flash player/swf not having privileges before, but I ran as administrator and the save file worked perfectly.

Derp <.>

Oh, and I'm running on windows 7. 'Cuz you asked.

EDIT: And at Arrgngrim of course the dev posting here got them extra sales; ULMF doesn't share games when they know the developers, especially not when said dev is actually listening to the community, like 7th Dream has been doing. Which means, in a nutshell, less people are gonna be getting it for free and will therefore buy it.

I agree with that notion. If the developers come to the forums and listen to feedback, I am far more willing to purchase their product. And even if I obtain the game through other means, I probably won't be sharing it.

Re: (7th Dream) Pretty Warrior May Cry (EXPECTED RELEASE DATE 12/10)

Well the main thing I was getting at was nobody is going to share a game in front of it's devs unless they want to be banned, which cuts down on the access people have to the game, forcing more of them to buy it.

Which means that a dev showing up here indirectly increases profits.

There will always be some that will not care. Take the Vanja (don't know why people actually like Vanja games) threads for instance, some people still didn't give a damn what the dev thought and distributed the game.

My personal mentality is if the developers/makers of a product actually care about whether the consumers enjoy their products or not, I would be willing to spend some money. Since I feel that I have a higher satisfaction of getting my money's worth.

Do the devs have the right to ban people that share their games? But yeah, the developers showing up on the forums definitely increases their profits. It is just the matter of if they take the time to do so.

I believe most of the people you are referencing weren't so much "people who knew and didn't care" and "stupid lurkers who didn't pay any attention in the first place and therefore didn't know." Considering the universal amount of hate anyone gets for asking for a vanja game, I'm led to believe that's the only reason anyone would even bother asking for them here.

My personal mentality is if the developers/makers of a product actually care about whether the consumers enjoy their products or not, I would be willing to spend some money. Since I feel that I have a higher satisfaction of getting my money's worth.
I agree with that entirely; if the dev puts the time in, they deserve the money. Personally my problem is that I don't have a credit card unless I bum off of someone... and I'm not exactly gonna call up my bro and ask "hey man, I got a porn game I wanna buy for $20, mind if you let me use your credit card?" So I wind getting it from shares. I don't redistribute the good ones though, 'cuz that's like a slap in the face to the devs, especially if you support them.

Do the devs have the right to ban people that share their games?
Not unless they're mods of the forums, but you've seen the process haven't you? Someone posts about a game, people start sharing it, the dev shows up and says "please don't share this game", our mods remove all links and the people who put them back up get warnings, if they repost them publicly a few times they get banned. This is best demonstrated by Vanja, because even if they don't get banned they get so much hate from the community they never come back.

But yeah, the developers showing up on the forums definitely increases their profits. It is just the matter of if they take the time to do so.
It's just unfortunate that so few devs actually do take the time. It has a ton of benefits, from sales to updates to bug fixes to community support, it's worth it.

At least, if the game is worth supporting than it's worth it.

(yeah I know this post is long, it sorta just came out that way.)

Nah, I don't mind reading long posts if it adds to the thread.

But yeah, thankfully some devs come out and actually want to make their hard work worth something. I actually haven't even touched the demo yet; I prefer playing the complete product. So I am really looking forward to the release of this game.

Re: (7th Dream) Pretty Warrior May Cry (EXPECTED RELEASE DATE 12/10)

Turns out I'm still having troubles with the saving system; it works, but it seems to erase the save files every x minutes when the game is closed, and when I reboot the computer the saves get wiped.

Again, running on windows 7 and using full admin on the program, no restrictions, just non-functioning save files.

EDIT: It just occured to me I should mention that I've never, ever had this problem with games that create external save files. While I've rarely had it to begin with, it's only ever been with internal saving, like this game.

Re: (7th Dream) Pretty Warrior May Cry (EXPECTED RELEASE DATE 12/10)

Hi Guys,
Here is the fixed demo as I talked yesterday:

Thanx for your support again, We will keep improve it with your feedbacks.

From my position, I don't understand why people spend money to buy a game they like, then just hurt the game dev by sharing it which bring themself no benefit.... The free copies always show up all over the internet by the same day we release the game, that kills at least 90% of sales, And no one buy the game after a few weeks later. Most independent developers have no interest to improve the game, fixed the bugs, making the free upgrade packs while 90% of user didn't pay.

I guess it's because of your setting of flash player, try give it more "local space".

A silly question, but will the updates be included on the expected released version on 12/10 on dlsite? Or will the patch be a separate file?

Flash player only has a given amount of space for data (like save games) by design. Right click in game, and click settings. Slide the bar over to the right quite a bit, mine shows it's using 1126k without even having a save game. I'd say 10MB or higher.

Re: (7th Dream) Pretty Warrior May Cry (EXPECTED RELEASE DATE 12/10)

That seems to have worked for now, thank you. (I set the storage to unlimited, so yeah)

I'll be sure to mention if it stops working again.

EDIT: It doesn't seem to be saving my settings... trying again.

(I go to the proper tab, drag over to max, then click close.)

EDIT Again: Nope, it's not keeping my settings.

I change it to max, it resets on close.

I check the "never ask me again" box and it sets the bar at 0.

I don't know what to do. I'm running it as admin and it still won't work.

IDK, I never tried editing the settings. That might be a bug, whereas the issue with saves was that allotted storage space. Admin shouldn't make a difference as it's a flash game; they don't follow the same rules for disk access as other games.
