I just want to test a Theory of mine out. I may be wrong but that is where the fun is.

How many People Play the Games on this Board in Japanese or other Language and don't care if they do not understand what is going on? Using only guess work to get you along?

How many of you Folks actually know a Foreign Language enough that Playing Games is easy for you?

Again I just want to see what ties everyone together here.

Re: Foreign Language in Games and Videos

I have played Japanese hentai games before, but not very often. A lot of them require the player to use hints to advance to the next scene, and without a command of the language, the hints are impossible to find without walkthroughs (that sometimes can be found on this forum).

With that said, there are certain conventional video games I've played where the Engrish translations are so bad that they might as well have stuck to Japanese. I feel like SoulCalibur and Tekken games want to have a plot, and maybe they do in Japan--but I can't seem to find a coherent one in the US version. Many of them are still fun games, though.

I am stuck between: "Awww it's in Japanese" to "Screw it, I will see how far I can get"

I am in the middle of learning Japanese, I still have much to learn but I can tell certain Letters in a Sentence apart from others so I am getting somewhere.

Still for the time being I can't really play many RPG's on the Board because of the Language Barrier. Video's are not so bad to watch because you can easily guess what is happening, but Games are a different beast all together.

Playing games in a foreign language is par for the course for me. Hell, I'm writing this in a foreign language right now!

In regards to non pornographic games, I rarely play games that are in a language that I can't understand and the only ones that really come to mind are the Crayon Shin Chan games for the GBA and DS.

Re: Foreign Language in Games and Videos

Well I pretty much only play anime-style games whether they are H or not. Not too many good anime-style games have been translated into English so most of the time I find myself playing japanese games. I know elementary-level kanji so I can barely scrape by, as far as reading menus or leveling up characters are concerned.....but can't read any dialogue sadly.

It's a work in progress. But anyway i believe japanese game companies really make the best games and put the most effort into making games. Not only that but when it comes to free2play games, I have found through much experience, that japanese game companies are much more fair, compared to....say chinese or korean game companies. Most japanese games allow you to enjoy the game and reach end-game without paying, whereas chinese or other nation game companies will drain your wallet.
