Re: Dash - lil red ror (RELEASED £3.20)

dash has fallen behind damsel quest in sales now, though im not sure if this is because people have lost interest allready or if its just that 45 people bought the game before release...
Hey Azure so I'll speak up here as a fan of yours. I bought a few of your games but honestly you're still charging for the old ones and your new ones cost money too. I know you need to make a living but the forum is a place for constant piracy and your games are more or less carbon copies of themselves at this point.

Give away your old games for free and start work on a big project that isn't just a "stealth based ROR" because honestly that's all we get from you anymore :p

hmmm? did you mean to say "that isn't just a ror?" cause that's the majority of my games, i only made 2 stealth games :3...

from what i can see kyrieru is still charging for his older games, so I see no reason to give things away for free besides special occasions...

I have a few projects on backed up though, a rhythm game, a stat raising adventure game, my metroidvania still needs a lot of enemies and content and its proving difficult to work on for that reason...

your comment does not sound like someone who is a fan if im honest...also innacurate, as i am not charging for my original work princess escape

UGHHHHHHH WHY DO DLSITE HAVE TO BE SO FUCKING SLOW WITH EVERYTHING, ALSO WHY DO THEY HAVE TO WASTE MY TIME? THEY CANT FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS LIKE, USE THE CGUNLOCK INI TO REVIEW THE CG QUICKER... or here's the zip for the finished product (they refused to sell it because it wasnt a stand alone exe, so i was delayed another 3-4 days while i wait for them to look at the version with the unlock file embedded in the code)

in other news, the total sales for this game including the pre-sales are 88 (45 presales)
the end of its first week after completion is drawing to a close.

Re: Dash - lil red ror (RELEASED £3.20)

first week of sales come to an end :) and i'm happy to report 46 sales :D

and now because i like to do pointless comparisons thats like 23% less than damsel quest did :) but it's even more pointless cause damsel quest didnt have a big competition (15 copies given away) and didnt do pre-sales (45 copies)

oh the whole this is well on the way to becoming my 2nd best selling game.

You should be getting more than that... These games seem to have a low pay out for you. That's unfortunate because they are rather fun.

damsel quest got 255 paypal sales even though its price on release was £4.60 (but split between two people)

in the end its been my most profitable game, though it had plenty of issues, I can only keep moving forward with making games until im good enough to get half what kyrie does

Re: Dash - lil red ror (RELEASED £3.20)

Bought and played it, and was very impressed with Lustfire's artwork. I was not happy with how few sprite animations had a cum sequence, though. I was hoping for the sprite wolf scene to be more than a 6(?) frame loop.

Furthermore, the sprite work itself and gameplay are both quite basic. It was kinesthetically enjoyable, and the enemy design was pretty spot on, but the maps were lacking in a certain degree of finesse at points. Maps could be jumped out of entirely, as someone has already mentioned, but there were also places where the solution for navigating the level's obstacles was not apparent or conveyed well. I was also a bit troubled when I discovered that the sprite for invisible walls was basically the floor sprite re-purposed. It made many of the fake walls very obvious to spot. Finally, the level with nothing but bush-darts for a long haul was silly to me, though I could see that level being enjoyable to some for the anxiety or adrenaline rush it could create.

I know you're a one-man team, but I personally would like to see you work with another person in the future. It would be cool to have someone skilled on-board with map design and sprites, so that you can focus on what looked like your strengths on this game: the kinesthetics and overall game's design/premise.

Also, for everyone else...

Unlocking the last CG actually isn't all that bad, once you know the tricks to each level. It only takes around 5 minutes, and it was kind of enjoyable for me to see how much better I'd gotten at dodging enemies. I'm very glad that the "C" key does the high-jump, too, because that helps immensely.

6/10, would try the sequel if it had Lustfire's art.

Re: Dash - lil red ror (RELEASED £3.20)

today dash hit

I've also done a little work on Rika (my metroidvania) but i didnt want to bump that thread until i had something more substantial to show, to think i havent designed a single tentacle enemy yet, either way the layout is going smoothly, but the enemy design is behind

i think dash has 111 sales now :)

I dont seem to be able to sprite though, so rika will have to wait...

meanwhile, planning on going live with my when my Dungeon crawler demo has enough content for a decent proof of concept (there's no porn yet)

my mistake... 113 (including dlsite)... some of my paypal ones were actually damsel quest lol (same price atm)

Re: Dash - lil red ror (RELEASED £3.20)

I loved making this game with all it's accidental mechanics... originally the dash mechanic was supposed to be just a cool way of crossing small gaps and extending jumps, pretty cool that it lead to 2 forms of high jump though because of the gravity negation, though i kinda wish id made more of it, like an game with fighting or something

i also wish it was acceptable for me to reuse sprites and add content to make a new game, because i cant sprite for shit

For those of you who found unlocking the last CG too frustrating (like me), F5 loads state and F6 loads it.
