So, I’m wondering about the translation for ブヒヒッ and similar onomatopoeias. It's the sound a pig makes (or a pig-man, in this case: an orc.) I could use other people's thoughts.

The two translations I’ve seen so far are *grunt* and “oink”, and I have problems with both of those. The issue with *grunt* is that it’s not really clear that that’s a pig sound. Humans grunt too, and it sounds totally different, so the word doesn’t really get across the idea of orcs being pig-men.

“Oink” certainly does, but my problem with that is that it sounds comedic. Orcs going “oink-oink” is totally appropriate in a light-hearted fantasy anime like Slayers or Dragon Half or even Words Worth, but it doesn’t seem fitting for a brutal rape/torture scene, and I’m worried it'll break the mood. This is a dark and vicious world, and the orcs are not very nice people.

I’ve come up with a third possible translation, which is *snort*. I think that’s my favorite so far, since it’s more of an “animal sound” than *grunt*, and also doesn’t instantly turn the scene into a comedy. It's still not perfect, I just can't come up with anything better.

So... any thoughts on the right way to translate orc/pig noises?

It's a laugh. If you watch series like Words Worth it's the way the pig-men laugh when they rape a girl. "BUHIHI~!"

Fun fact, it plays on that the first syllable is the same as in "buta", which means pig.

If you guys are still looking for an editor, I'd happily participate. Not as much a post history to dive into but editing H-games is one of my kinda-hobbies. What are you looking for in an editor?

Simple, we'd like editors to go through scenes we feel are "finished", and tell us what's wrong with them. This can be anything from grammar and punctuation to "The game is telling me this line is spoken by Feena when it's clearly an orc saying it" to "this sex scene isn't as hot as it should be because your word choice is too cold and clinical" or "'He then shoves it right in there' just sounds awkward as hell, can you improve that sentence?"

In short, an editor's job is to find what's wrong with a piece of writing, and tell us how it could be improved.

Editors have different strengths and weaknesses, so if you're amazing at grammar but have no instinct for what's hot, that's fine, you should focus on the grammar then. And vice versa.

I'll send you the Google Docs link with instructions, check out our work so far and let us know what you think. There are no obligations or deadlines, we're all doing this because it's fun, and you should be as well.

Although there has been some progress regarding the game (minor bland text that's easily fixed and misaligned text notwithstanding), there hasn't been any activity as of late.
Either the people are busy in preparations for Halloween...or everyone's dead. Again :O

I'm here too, and super enthused about the project. Just gonna be staying at GF's apartment til November so I haven't had much access to my H-game computer

Update: we're making very nice progress. Several new sex scenes, as well as general location translations. Our new editor, Nostram, has been amazing, going above and beyond in helping our sentences not suck.

We've also hammered out a pretty nice workflow where everyone can see and collaborate on every sentence. In short: translating no longer requires technical skills. I think this is a very good thing, because frankly dealing with PS's script files is a huge pain, and editing the source files, rebuilding, etc. was a lot to ask from translators.

Anyway, if anyone with a good working knowledge of Japanese is interested in helping, translators are always welcome! The game has a lot of text. We're progressing nicely, but Feena's journey is long, the monsters are horny, and there's more than enough work for all.

Yeah, I actually tested one of the patches and tried to submit a correction to the doc, but then I found out that it had already been corrected and I was just playing an outdated patch, even though it was made like the day before or something. >_>

It's awesome to see you're all still working on this, keep up the great work guys. Can't wait to get to play some more of this translated. When do you think you'll release an update with current translated content?

We'd like to get a decent amount done before we release something, enough to at least make it worth people's while to download. The tentative goal for the next release is to get the Monastery, Caverns, Village, Slime Forest, and Abandoned Mine areas completely done, including all scenes in those areas.

I'd rather not give time estimates, because it all depends on how fast we're gonna feel like working. I don't want to hold ourselves to a schedule and turn this into an obligation.

That said, we've been working our asses off and we're pretty hype about the project. So things are looking good.

Hello, everyone. I'm posting to let you know that I'm now working together with Memory, Divadeo, Nostram, and Shadow Word: Porn to translate Princess Sacrifice.

Here's the story: I was working on a translation for this game for a while, and made significant progress with around 54% of files and 36% of strings translated. I wanted to hold off on releasing a patch until the entire thing was complete. However, that never panned out and I slowly stopped working on the project for various reasons.

Fast forward to a week ago: I learned that another group had picked up the mantle of translating the game and that reminded me of the work I did a while back. To let them redo work I may have already done would just be silly, so I got in touch with them.

Since they've done some work I haven't done and I've done some work they haven't done, the unified project when put together is much further along than any other translation work on Princess Sacrifice so far. So now, we're going to move even further towards a 100% translation. Please look forward to it!

I used the fix but it made it small.

I guess sharing what's in the latest test build wouldn't hurt. Keep in mind that this is experimental, though, and that there may be crashes. They're currently working on resolving conflicts between the overlapping pieces of the new and old translations. Progress is a bit slow because, quite frankly, Docs isn't exactly adapted for this type of work.
