I was thinking of doing a mission but jeez, without realizing it, I kinda gave Jo no offensive strengths. I was kinda thinking in terms of tanking, or in nonrpg terms, "try to get raped as much as possible but still survive." ... and i'm not an rpg player

If you give people the ability to really customize their characters, you're going to end up with a wide range of combat capability. And then you're left in an annoying place where the same enemy will be an instant lose for Character A and an instant win for Character B.

And, although Caitlyn complains about it IC, pretty much the smartest solution is to limit the number of characters who can be active in any scene at a time. That way, you can at least limit the number of variables that you have to deal with and juggle the enemies so that no character feels totally useless.

One of the other issues is that for any highly specialized character (like Caitlyn, really) you get into the "When All You Have is a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail" problem. Combat focused characters are going to be most confident in their combat skills and so will be looking for ways to turn anything into a combat situation. Diplomats are going to be continually trying to chat up anybody that they encounter. Mechanics are going to be looking for ways to MacGyver their way out of a problem.

And that can work really well if you get a mixed team, but if you end up with a diplomat on a "Go Kill All The Zombies" mission, they're just going to end up feeling useless. Same for Edge Twinsword being assigned to go search through a medical library for research information on the outbreak.

I don't think it would be a very good idea to forcibly capture monsters - they'd definitely summon help. Ones which came voluntarily and are being treated nicely probably wouldn't be interested in upsetting the status quo.

Not to mention it'd be one more headache for RJ to try and plot around.:D

Why can I see where this is going unfolding in my head?

Yeah, I can see where this is going.

If they go down there before the day ends, there'll be one big blob of slimegirl in the middle of the room, doing nothing. It forms a head while our girls stare at it, and then when they do nothing, it sinks back into the blob. Nothing further happens.

If they go down there after the day ends, the blob will form itself into a clone or two of Azure and hold out a hand. Events proceed approximately on the same lines as in here (http://www.ulmf.org/bbs/showthread.php?t=990&page=5), depending on player reactions.

Why, you ask? Azure already fed it "today", and it wasn't interested in more when Azure gave it a nudge (http://www.ulmf.org/bbs/showthread.php?t=1012&page=2). Really - she began the day by playing with the slimegirl, and then went on the hunting mission with Lin and River. Morning for the former, afternoon for the latter, now it's late evening.

Give it another day beyond that and I'm sure it'll be annoyed enough to jump on people as soon as it sees them, but for now it ain't starving.

DeMatt nearly had it, it won't attack when it's not hungry, but it is quite a glutton, so it won't mind feeding a little more than it needs to.

You completely forgot the fact that it fed off Azure once and after a few hours it was hungry again....Actually, no it didn't. The first incident was between Azure, Kali, and a large conglomerate of slimes - so any individual slime wouldn't have gotten as full a meal. The second incident, the slimegirl didn't feed - in fact she supported Azure through the birth of the doggy. The third incident was down in the basement, and Azure got the slimegirl to feed off her.

So if they go down there NOW, the slimegirl(s) won't be starving. They might be inviting, or they might still be resting, but I'm sure they won't be starving.

Experience in one scenario is calculated the same way as the way you spent them in character creation.

Here's a chart in case you don't understand.

(Total EXP gained = points gotten from failed rolls)

1 = 1
2 = 3
3 = 6
4 = 10
5 = 15

So, in this game, grinding one stat isn't healthy, it helps if you diversify what you gain points in.

Ergo:
Explore dark areas to gain perception.
Talk with people and fail common sense rolls to gain intelligence.
Fight the effects of aphrodisiac to gain constitution.
Resist temptation or use inspired powers to gain willpower.

The last two stats are self explanatory, and so are the skills.

But, unless you have a single point in a skill, you won't gain points in that area for failing a related roll.

I just saw that bit. I knew her clothes were fine but I was assuming she was pinned down in a dark room with no way to tell where her clothes were. That's why she made that joke because she thought if they got away they would probably have to run and leave them behind.
