Fuck yes it does, it falls under the sub-category 'Tactical/Strategy RPG. And as far as I'm concerned it's unrivalled when it comes to storylines in RPG's and video games in general. Though the remake, FFT:War of the Lions told the story a lot better. Though thats probably because they translated it right xD And Balthier in FFT:WoTL was broken as fuck if you kept using Ramza's Squire ability 'Tailwind' on him. I believe the skill in the PSX version was called Yell.


I might need to check out war of the Lions then, because I loved the story. Well, I just really sucked at the game lol. What platform is it on?

CTrigger is the best game ever. CCross I haven't played, but I get the sinking feeling that it's not very good. CT DS is good, but only because the original game was good. The changes to the game were either neutral in effect or just plain bad (renaming the roly, poly and roly-poly, for instance), with the exception of the bonus dungeon, if only because it's been so long since anything official came out for CT.

FF 5 rocks, so do a lot of the other games. As I first played FF5 while quite young, and didn't figure out that I should be equipping characters, I ended up choosing a party of monk, monk, monk and monk, and did really well, getting through half the game without any trouble at all or even power-levelling... and the only reason I stopped there was ‘cause I couldn’t find Cid to get him to take me to the second half of the game. As such, this is the party I have used in any of the job-allowing FF games since. Though, that damn elephant in the second crystal’s tower was a bitch…

FF3 sucked ass, it just plain wasn’t that good in general, plus it had two parts that killed you instantly, one of which you had no idea or warning that it would do that, until suddenly, poof, you're dead (entrance to bad guy's tower if you don't have all the orbs). On top of that, the final 'battle' was a marathon of: the supposed final boss giving you a speech, the fight with the boss, a large cutscene and hopeless battle against the real final boss, another cutscene, and then another dungeon with four very difficult and long boss fights in it, each with their own annoying before and after cutscenes, before finally fighting the final boss. And if you die anywhere in that sequence except in the hopeless fight? YOU DO THE WHOLE THING FROM THE START AGAIN, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SAVE IN THAT SECTION. Whoever designed that was an utter sadist.

Chrono Cross was okay. I wouldn't really call it a sequel... it's only vestigially related. Actually, I'm not exactly sure if I can even give it a rating because I didn't really understand the story. It was sort of metaphysical and went over my head. I read somewhere that it has a ridiculous number of paths you can go down because you can acquire the upwards of twenty or thirty characters in almost any order (and you can miss or refuse quite a few of them). Then and again I only played it once and it was a few years ago so I can't really recommend playing or not playing. Just emulate and see for yourself =p

Oh god, Dissidia is like a constant orgasm. And as I said earlier, make sure you have Balthier in your main team and use Ramza to increase his speed. His accuracy is influenced by his speed stat, and he has some of the best abilities including the abilities that break peoples arm's and leg's. A2 is alright, though it's nothing really worth shouting about. And I really hope they do DLC for Dissidia.

It's from a bit back, but I almost forgot about it; there are only two differences from what I know: the cut scenes that make the characters look like their character concept artwork (Dragon Ball characters, bleh... nothing bad in general, but just not CT's true style. -_-), and the music was a slightly lower quality. Which is like saying that your oesophagus is slightly smaller than normal and you can only consume liquids. Small thing, much importance. Music MADE Chrono Trigger, there wasn't a single track that didn't stick in you head, from the battle theme to the overworld themes to the character themes...

One question… how do you guys pronounce “Chrono”, “Lavos”, and “Magus”? I have heard what I think to be abysmal pronunciation of all the character names from every lets play/whatever video relating to Chrono Trigger I’ve seen, and now I’m beginning to think *I* may be the one pronouncing the names wrong. Like back with Rastlin. Still not sure how I got Ras-t-lin from Rast-lin.

I pronounce "Chrono" as crAWH-noh, derivative from crawh-NOH-meh-ter (chronometer, if you couldn't figure it out). Somewhat reminiscent of a poorly pronounced "Toronto" (trAWN-to, instead of the tor-AWN-to it's more like). "Lavos", to me, has always been LAY-vuhs instead of the more likely LAH-vohs. And "Magus" rhymes with it - MAY-guhs, albeit less syllabically separated.

It would seem I'm going opposite of DeMatt. Chrono is "Kron-oh" (It's also how I pronounce anything with time. It's not Croh-noh, though that's probably correct.) I go the "Lay-vohs" route with Lavos. Suppose it could go either way (with a short a...Lah-vohs, but I've always gone long mentally.) and Magus is "May-gus," similar to Mage.

I myself go with Kron-oh for Chrono, though DeMatt’s sounds valid to me too. I’m just happy that no one so far has pronounced it as ‘Croh-noh’ ([/incredibly lame pun]). I actually pronounce chronometer as Kron-oh-me-ter myself, though. There are some things to do with time that I will pronounce as ‘croh-noh-whatever’, though.

My Lavos pronunciation is Lah-vohs. Weirdly, all the pronunciations I’ve heard of it online are ‘Lah-vose’. Fuck knows where they got that last part from.

My rambling ‘evidence’:
Point 1: Lavos is a big firey thing that crashed into the planet, which shoots fire from its back, and appears from firey cracks in the earth. A character named it with their languages equivalent for ‘big fire’, and the first three letters of its name are Lav(a). It would be understandably appropriate, thusly, for the name to be pronounced with the Lah of Lava.

Point 2, because point one is not really all that definitive: Lavos is given to be a compound word of ‘La’, ‘fire’ and ‘vos’, ‘big’, according to Ayla. It is not possible to pronounce ‘La’ as ‘Lay’ when taking La as an individual word, leaving the only pronunciation as ‘Lah’. Of course, this is a translation of a Japanese game and the character naming Lavos is a human from a time when humans shouldn’t have existed; who knows what they’re speaking...

Magus I had always pronounced as the ‘Mag’ of Magazine, Magnum or Magi, and then ‘us’. Although I may also be pronouncing that last one wrong (Mag-eye, as opposed to May-gee… though ‘magey’ just sounds silly).

Random blathering about why (and most of this one’s probably wrong):
The only piece of ‘evidence’ I can bring to support my pronunciation is that Magus has gone by the name Gil and Magil in Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross, respectively. (Granted, the one in Chrono Cross isn’t Magus himself, but was supposed to be when they named the character, so it still counts.) Gil, from Radical Dreamers, came first, and really only has one way to be pronounced, that of ‘gill’, like those on a fish. Now, Magil you could pronounce “may-jill’, but as the name is clearly building off of Gil, that no longer makes sense. The end result is that Magil is pronounced either ‘Mah-gill’ or ‘Mag-ill’, there isn’t really much difference there. Again, as Magil is an expy for Magus, it can be assumed that the names are pronounced the similarly; thus, Magus is pronounced Mah-gus, or Mag-us.

Since "magus" is a real word (singular of magi, who originally were the three kings of orient that gave frankincense and myrrh to baby jesus), there's only one way to pronounce it. Seriously - look it up in the dictionary =p

Crow-no is how I pronounce anything with "Chrono" in it. Chronosphere, Chronometer, Chrono trigger, etc.

Lah-vose I don't really have a justification for other that what host has already mentioned... lavos is fire and brimstone and therefore his name should sound like lava.

Yes it is. The USNC(?) is the earth militery in space, and I have no idea what the alien military is called. The alien military seems to be organized by species then rank, and grunt is the name (as far as I know, there's probably a real name out there) of a species.

I have heard grunt in relation to any number of low-ranking low-paying jobs, and grunt-work as a catch all for menial or manual labor. But that's far less common than it's military use, I assure you.

I felt a little guilty after not signing in for about a month. I had effectivly abandoned a couple of Role Plays that I was a part of without notice, but was afraid of returning and having to apologize. It's not that I don't want to apologize, just that I'm afraid of hurting other people by dissapearing and don't want to have to face that guilt out in the open, so instead I keep it bottled up and I feel worse. So to get this out there now, I'm sorry to everyone for vanishing like that. I don't remember why I dropped off, but I do know that I wasn't feeling good. I sometimes suffer from bouts of depression and paranoia and these can make my life really miserable, and I don't want to hurt anyone else because of them, but I do, and so the cycle continues...

I will say now though, I'm back, and I have no intention of ever leaving again.

he tilts at windmills because he mistakes them for monsters. an ongoing theme in many internet arguments i hear. but i do my research as well, i do not see so much of his buffoonery in you and such never the less i am happy that you can accept your title.

at the end of the day any joke i make (and they are jokes) that ends in happiness is a good one.

Quixote was a crazy old man, but he was also crazy awesome. It takes spectacular conviction to attack a windmill at full speed from horseback. Also in his story: He declared a barmaid a princess, in whose name he would adventure. He attacked a barber to get his basin for use as a helmet. His sidekick Sancho Panza rode behind him on a donkey and generally made sure he didn't get hiss ass killed, but mostly played along.

Fun fact: The book was actually written as a parody of medieval knights tale.

Cons: Delusional, foolish, wasting their time on problems that are impossible or not even there.
