GITS: A New Gig OOC

Okay. So my last 2 RP's fell to ruin. But that has not deterred my creativity.

This next idea is going to be something a little different. The main universe is going to be a setting something like Ghost in the Shell, but with two key differences. One, magic exists in this world, more to be explained once interest is shown. Two, hacking isn't as simple as it is in Ghost in the Shell. You can't hack unless you have a computer or net terminal on-hand and have your brain plugged into it. Aside from that, there's not much difference from the show. The characters will be task-force operatives, just like in the show, but we will be on a different team from the main characters in GITS.

Eh, it depends, really... I've never watched Ghost in the Shell before, even though I did play the game for the PS back in the day. So I'll wait till I have a better idea on what to expect before hopping in.

Okay. Seeing as how this has enough interest, I'll be revealing to you the magic system.

Magic is a scientific anomaly found during modification of a human's neural net and nervous system. More specifically, cyberization has been viewed as the catalyst for magic. Magic is invoked through the use of a body modification, implanted under the skin on the right forearm. Most government agencies pay to have their agents given these upgrades, seeing as how they are both expensive and experimental. The maximum limit of installations for each human is three, any more and it would probably fry the nervous system. The cheaper mods tend to have a drug-like effect, and are highly addictive.

In short, Magic is obtained when you insert a hexagonal chip into one of three slots on your arm under the skin. These mods can give the wielder anything from electrical control to the ability to control certain animals. Each chip is unique, in that only one with it's powers currently exists. Each is experimental, and may result in injury or comatose.

That's the gist of what magic is.

I never watched Ghost in the Shell either, but it sounds kind of interesting :)

What kind of thing is it about?

Weapon-wise, all the weapons in Ghost in the Shell are bullet-based, as for the work we'll be doing, it's mainly just clean up work. Handling drug rings, taking down terrorists, etc.

Mainly, it's spec-ops kinda stuff. As for character sheets, once everything is all set and I get the subforum I'll post the sheet template

I agree with above, sounds very much like Shadowrun. If you're adding magic to cyberpunk, I'd look into that, it's well thought out. Are you planning on running something via OpenRPG or something?

But basically, interest shown. I'm a real fan of cyberpunk and could use another diversion. How were you planning on running?

Also, since I just noticed my original post was lacking this, the RP is gonna be freeform, thus, the standard rules apply. And, another thing. If I catch ANYONE godmodding at ALL, you can bet it's gonna be a boot up your arse.

So, how long have our characters had their chips? Also, are they just getting assigned to the section or have they been their for a while?

Oni's has been assigned for quite some time, as well as mine. The rest of you were just recently recruited, and the chips were given to you a month ago, so you'd know how to use them well, but not very powerfully.

Which means we might have quirks in control as well, like using low amounts of power in our sleep and waking up to find the results?
