Just because you were born in '97 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid. It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons. I am sorry but three conscious years of the 90's just wont cut it. You're a 90's kid if you remember:

You remember watching -Doug -Ren & Stimpy -Pinky and the Brain -AAAAAAAH Real Monsters! -Rockos modern Life. -Animaniacs -Gargoyles
You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"
You just cant resist finishing this . . . "in west Philadelphia born and raised . . ."
You remember -Step by Step -Family Matters -Dinosaurs -Boy Meets World-Full house
You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons.
You remember reading "Goosebumps"
You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence . . . not
When everything was settled by -rock paper scissors or -bubble gum bubble gum in a dish or -ms. mary mack
When kick ball was a daily activity.
When we used to obey our parents
You used to listen to the radio all day long just to record your FAVORITE song of ALL time on a tape.
You remember when Super Nintendos and Sega Genisis became popular.
You remember The Original Game Boy.
You always wanted to send in a tape to America's Funniest Home Videos . . . but never taped anything funny.
You remember watching -The Magic School Bus -Wishbone -Reading Rainbow -mr.rodgers neighbor hood-and Ghostwriter on PBS
You remember when Yo-Yos were cool.
You remember those Where's Waldo books.
You remember eating Warheads and Splashers Gum.
You remember watching -the 1st Batman -Aladdin -Ninja Turtles -ghost busters
You remember Ring Pops.
you remember when every thing was "da BOMB!"
You remember boom boxes .vs. cd players.
Making those little paper fortune things, and then predicting your life with them.
You played and/or collected "Pogs"
You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet, or Nano and brought it everywhere.
One word. . . . . . . .trolls.
Windows 95 was the best.
You watched the original cartoons of -Rugrats -Wild Thornberry's -Power Rangers -Rocket Power.
All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.
You collected those Beanie Babies.
You remember Carebears
You know that Lambchop's song never ended.
Silver dollars, which were cool to have.
Everyone watched the WB.
If you even know what an original walkman is.
You know the Macarena by heart.
"Talk to the hand" . . . enough said
You went to McDonald's to play in the playplace.
You remember playing on merry go rounds at the playground.
Before the MySpace frenzy . . . Before the Internet & text messaging . . . Before Sidekicks & iPods . . . Before PlayStation3 or X-BOX 360 . . . Before Spongebob . . . Before Tupac was shot.
When light up sneakers were cool.
When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.
When gas was 0.95 a gallon.
When we recorded stuff on VCRs.
You had slap bracelets!
You Actually played outside until it was dark!
You had a furbie and grew sick of it because it wouldn't shut up!!
You remember the ORIGINAL cooooookie crisp commercial with with the little doggy and not that stupid wolf they have now...
Way back. Before we realized all this would eventually disappear.

Do you remember these?

I remember them. Doesn't make some of them less obnoxious then they were. God, I loved me some Family Matters and Animaniacs, though.

FUCK YEAH MAGIC SCHOOL BUS

Sinfulwolf

Also, I can recall almost everything from the Joan of Arc Wishbone... and another one, but the story name escapes me.x.x;

Wow, even though some of these mostly apply to America I remember a lot of this. I fucking loved Animaniacs and I didnt realise you guys had the magic school bus too. And its Where's Wally, damn Americans corrupting him.

I still do that.... NOT!

You remember when Yo-Yos were cool.
You tell me Yoyos aren't still cool, I'll dropkick you in the face.

You remember eating Warheads and Splashers Gum.
What happened to those anyway?

You went to McDonald's to play in the playplace.
If they wouldn't throw me in a mental institution, I probably still would. Kudos if you remember the xkdc reference here =D

You remember playing on merry go rounds at the playground.
Do they not still have those?

When light up sneakers were cool.
I must have begged my mom for months for a pair of these!

You had slap bracelets!
LOL

*chuckles* good point, I mya have been born in the 80s but I definitely don't consider myself an 80s kid.

And actually really intelligent, especially concerning 80's music. But the reason I like them is there's hardly a mainstream genre they haven't touched upon and that's respectable.

Lucas

I do like Fly...but goddamn I couldn't listen to it again until 2003 because of how sick of it I had gotten from the 90's.

Wasn't there two Carmen Sandiago game shows? "Where in time" and "Where in the world"? I loved them. They even had a couple games.

Shrike7
26th August 2009, 04:10
Ha, I have the Carmen theme on my regular playlist, take that! :P

Also, Pinky and the Brain was awesome, and you missed two of the most important shows: Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Kratt's Creatures! I remember coming home from school, catching the last half of Saved by the Bell, then watching Family Matters, Bill Nye, and Kratt's Creatures all in one go :D

Alias
26th August 2009, 04:12
Bill Nye is still the man.

Kratt's Creatures was good, but I preferred the lemur whose name I can't spell.

Shrike7
26th August 2009, 04:31
Zaboomafoo, really? I hated it when that lemur showed up. They didn't need a mascot, and it changed the tone of the entire show, made it all kiddy and less awesome, in my opinion. That's what I liked about them and Bill Nye, it was made for kids, but they talked to them like they were actually intelligent, I didn't feel patronized like I did with most other kids' shows. I mean, high school teachers use Bill Nye in their classrooms, that's gotta show something, eh?

Alias
26th August 2009, 04:43
You have a point. In my defense, however, I must point out that my reasoning may be because I got home when KC was either finished or halfway over. So that might be why I preferred one over the other =P

Bill Nye and Kratt's creatures were win and awesome sauce.

But yeah. I remember all this. First thing that comes to my mind when I think of the nineties is Blur. Fucking awesome band. Song 2 is still the best damn song title in the world. My all time favorite song too.

I also remember when wearing nothing around the house was considered indecent.... Or is that still indecent?

Most of the really good super-hero cartoons didn't start till the 90s. Batman & Superman, Spider-man, the X-Men, Batman Beyond. And Cartoon Network was just a big ball of win.

One of the reasons I lurve Blleedman's comics is because he's using the characters from the 'good' part of CN, not the shitastic stuff nowadays.

What, you mean to say that Ben10 isn't as good as stuff like Swat Kats, DBZ, and Dexter's Laboratory?

The fact you put DBZ in that list makes me wary on saying more on this, because:

1. Never seen Ben10. Probably the newest stuff I've seen is Yu-Gi-Oh! GX's first few episodes and some of the newer seasons of Code Lyoko
2. DBZ: 15 minutes of increasing power levels, 10 minutes of comersials, 5 minutes of anything worth watching. Not my favorite anime.
3. It's more personal tastes in comparison. Isn't that how all intraweb drama starts? :p

Not sure of Reboot, but Totally Spies, for being a 'chick' show, was purdy cool. I meant stuff like Spoungebob Squarepants and Camp Lazlow more in my (seemingly dumb now) generalization.

Oh Shrike... Kerrigan does have that certain hotness about her doesn't she.

Anyway, Starship Troopers... have the first two movies, and the entire CGI series on DVD. I also have the book, which is much different, and from the 1950's. So since the book is from way back then, and Warhammer 40k is from the 80's I believe, calling the movie Starship Troopers Space Marines vs. Aliens is unfair. It's like calling Dawn of War a complete rip-off of Starcraft...

Oh, I'm well aware of the differences, but you have to realize my gaming group. Starship Troopers was Tyranids vs. Space Marines, the Matrix was what happened when the Akashic Brotherhood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akashic_Brotherhood#Akashic_Brotherhood) and the Virtual Adepts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Adepts#Virtual_Adepts) got together to make a movie, and any and all vampires in movies were critiqued not only for clan but sect as well. It's more of an equating thing than, say, claiming LotR borrowed things from Harry Potter...

Like Oni said, a lot of that is very American specific, but surprisingly still applies. Another one I'm sure was universal was the pokemon cards rush. Nine thousands cards and no one who actually knew the rules. Through working with my brothers in lots of sly trading I managed to build up a vaguely playable (if crap) deck without ever buying a pack. Man were they expensive.

And there's nothing indecent about that Dark. I still remember drying out in front of the fire after a bath. Wouldn't do it anymore though...
